    Morning!
Had a bad night with ds2 for some reason all of a sudden he was waking every two hours? When he's been sleeping through.
And I've woken up with a stiff neck n back :(
I've got up having a lazy day today with the kids, joggy bottom day today and thick socks :)
ive already put some onions and potatoes at the bottom of the slow cooker with a bit of oil and rested the whole chicken on top with oil drizzled ontop with a maggi cube sprinkled on top garlic powder, herbs, salt, pepper and paprika. When we are almost ready to eat il be putting it in the oven to crisp along with the roasties and stuffing in another dish. Il also be making my own yorkie puds. And pudding will be nice and easy....a tin on riced pudding n jam. :)
We all love Sunday because its relax day and a lovely dinner along with a family film to follow.
Got to put the washing away and iron ds1's uniform and find something to wear for ds2 (7months)as they are having a school photo taken together tomorrow.
Got to go I'm due a cuppa coffee or il look like a zombie all day lol

Help please slow cooker virgin here with chicken!!!
This sounds so easy. Do you add any liquid and how long on which setting to cook?
I assume the onions and potatoes are discarded or do you use them and the leftover juices for anything?
    Thanks in advance.

    uolypool  ((hugs))

    Morning all.
The rain is putting me off going the shops today, I need a cheap stick blender (never realised how much i made soup, sauce, dips and smoothies until i couldn't) and want a weekend newspaper. I bought one last saturday and got so much entertainment out of it! I may ask if there are any old ones around waiting to be recycled.
I am determined to make it to the shops at some point so I can make a batch of smoothie using some YS berries I froze and veggie soup. I'm also going to make a test batch of brownies as it's my birthday this week and the tradition at work is to bring in hm treats and I don't want mine to be awful :o I wanted to do millionaire's shortbread but condensed milk is sooo expensive for the amount I need.

I finally had my graduation this week and I'm quite pleased I went in the end, it was very informal and fun. Some lecturers had an exciting little proposition for me too- to condense my dissertation and submit to an international conference and journal :D Even if I end up getting rejected it will still be something fun to work on.
I like telling people when something good happens and love hearing others good news, but my friends and flatmates aren't having a great time atm so I've kept this to myself as I don't to sound like a bragging cow.

I put on high for an hour then low for the rest, 30 mins before due to eat I transfer the chicken in the dish without the lid In the oven but baste using juices from the chicken at the bottom
The onions and potatoes get taken out before hand and transferred into roasting tin to crisp also. I like my skin crispy on the chicken and roasties Hope this helps? It tastes similar to a rotisserie chicken ....juicy

Leftover juices are turned into gravy, I thicken with plain flour Or cornflour it's yummy.

    Morning all,

No snow here and no rain either but brrrr is it cold. Doggie number 1 got me up for a wee at 3am but she only sniffed the cold air and didnt want to go out. She went though i made sure of that (vengence for getting me up out of a warm bed).

Well, now i have some cash behind me courtesy of sales on eb*y i was able to go out and buy my son some more clothes as ive been promising him some for ages i just didnt have the money. I bought him some jeans the other week but its everything else he needs now as he is growing so fast. I am so proud to say he is towering above me (though at 5ft only it wouldnt be hard). I had to walk my legs off though as he is in a funny size. Most department stores childrens stock ends at 14 and my son is almost 17 but mens ranges arent usually small enough or trendy enough for a teenage lad. Slippers... well lets not go there. Try finding slippers for a size 7 lad! Mens range start at 8 and childrens stop at 6 usually and i had to pay an arm and a leg for some size 7's in M&S. I staggered home with 3 more pairs of jeans, 3 plain black polo shirts and 3 white polo shirts (very baggy as per instructions) and a pair of rather nice but overpriced slippers.

I bought myself a couple of tops too. I keep buying all this makeup when its really clothes i am short of! I hate buying myself clothes but its my own fault for being such a 'dumpling'.

Oh and ive discovered Worthers Chocolate Caramels.... something else for me to crave. I am usually only loyal to one brand of chocolate but these chocolates i have to say are just as nice.:D

Lots for me to do today. Today is going to be a baking day. The men had better stay out of my way!

Must list my items on Ebay this evening. Ive got £185 to find for DS's driving lessons. I promised him driving lessons for Christmas. I'll pay for his lessons and get his Dad to pay for his theory test and driving license for his birthday which is the beginning of January.

Uolypool i hope you get something sorted soon with your DS at Uni. His education is far too important to let someone screw it up for him.

Have a good day all and wish me luck with the baking. I havent baked cakes for a good 10 years.:o

    Snowing in Brackley

    What a miserable wet morning.
DH is on a real downer this morning the news yesterday has really knocked the stuffing out of him and he is wandering around looking for things to do.:( Normally I would have loads of jobs, but I didn't really want to push him. I might get him to take me out somewhere, just to get him out of the house.
Molly:eek:Snow in Brackley is that just outside Birmingham? We live in the Chilterns and the local forecast last night was for wet snow, but none so far thank goodness.
Dinner is Beef and all the trimmings and a HM rice pud for pud.
If anyone has water butts that are full and it looks like the weather will freeze, make sure that you empty some water out because Ice expands (as we found out a few years ago:(:o:() the water butt will fall and roll around the garden and be damaged so you will have to fork out to buy a new one :(
Keep safe and warm everyone x

  • Morning,

Uolypool- that is horrendous behaviour towards your ds. I do some work in a local uni and there would be major consequences for such behaviour here. I hope you get it sorted and can build up his confidence again

Life continues to be hectic here. I managed to make it to a one to one Pilates session at 8.30 this morning. It was good but I'm quite stiff now. I really need to work on my stomach muscles that have separated during pregnancy. Though its not cheap it was brill to get the one to one focus an learn what exercises are safe for me to do!

Rest of day going to try and get house sorted before another busy week. My front hall looks like a shop with the number of eBay parcels that have arrived or are ready to ship so need to sort that. Plus washing, ironing and am excited that my reusable nappies have arrived so need to get them washed and ready to use.

Cooking a roast and might cook up a few things for this week.

Will try and get out for a walk too.

Finding being back to work very busy as have very little childcare but we are starting to get into a rhythm. Need to get to bed earlier or will burn myself out!!

roast beef today with all the trimmings.
got the usual sunday morning ironing to do
    washing in the machine.
    house mostly tidy
slimming world going well. 7.5 pounds off in four weeks. i dont really need to loose any more just maintain what ive done.
