Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 4th Nov. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Good Morning everyone ,brr its a chilly one and no mistake .My eldest DD rang me last night from NYC to say they will hopefully land tonight at 9.45.p.m. at Heathrow. Yay I am so pleased as I have missed her very much and its been a bit worrying with her sitting in the middle of Manhattan and all the storm raging around.I can't wait to see her.
She has to go for her pre op check tomorrow at lunchtime and she said she is going into work first then to the hospital then back to work. She is going to be so tired I think she won't need any gas to knock her out on Thursday when she has her op.
I will pop up to see my DGD Holly later today to make sure all's looking fine for when they get home but I can't see them getting home much before midnight if not later as its a good 2 hours from the aiport to her house.
I managed to get my hair trimmed yesterday and my lovely youngest DD treated me as a thank you for all I do with the boys when she's at work, bless her.So far this month I have had NSDs which is good and I am shopping from my freezer as much as possible, saving my pennies for next month.Well I'm off to have a hot cuppa and some breakfast Have a good day everyone and stay warm and wrapped up
Cheers JackieO xxx

Good morning everyone
Sunday but I am working today so drying off from the shower, waiting for DH to make me some toast (what a darling!) and saying hi here.
Am still in shock having read uolypool's post last night, what a way for someone to behave. I really hope the university can do something about it.
Am hoping to finish work in time to visit a market afterwards. I spotted a bargain on ebay last night but the P&P was expensive so I emailed the seller and asked about collection. Apparently they sell at a market which is relatively close to my work and the prices are even cheaper as no ebay fees!
OK toast is here and I better dash, so will just send well wishes to sick people and pets and hugs to those who need or just want them. Have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Morning all
Torrential rain here so far today, we weren't planning on going out anywhere.
Lunch today will be roast gammon and the rest of the joint will be used in sarnies in hubby's packup next week. We had a wander round the garden center yesterday & saw some lovely Christams decorations, so last night I had a dig through my fabric stash & I'm going to make something similar today.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good Morning All
Very wet and cold start here in Essex. Had friends round last night for some fireworks and food - was a good night but I went to bed late and still woke early so feeling very tired.
Not sure what is happening today, definitely need to do some ironing. Have got behind with everything with it being half term. Oh and also need to pop out to get a few bits.
Chicken defrosting for dinner later with all the trimmings.
Haven't caught up with the thread recently  so (((hugs))) allround x0 -
Morning everyone
Cold and dull, not looking forward to swimming this morning brrrr
Planning a day in the kitchen because the one yesterday never materialised:o
Kids back to school tomorrow so I can crack on with stuff again. Can't believe we're in November already  time is running away from me.....
No idea what's for tea, possibly the usual roast chicken.
Hugs and spoons all round xxxx
Ulypool hugs for you and your DS. As for the biatch......might I suggest you print off the FB pages and take them to the local bobby at the Uni? Not sure homophobic and racist attacks are to be taken lightly. OK you're son isn't necessarily gay but that's beside the point. Hope she gets what she deserves xxxxI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Morning!
Had a bad night with ds2 for some reason all of a sudden he was waking every two hours? When he's been sleeping through.
And I've woken up with a stiff neck n back
I've got up having a lazy day today with the kids, joggy bottom day today and thick socks
ive already put some onions and potatoes at the bottom of the slow cooker with a bit of oil and rested the whole chicken on top with oil drizzled ontop with a maggi cube sprinkled on top garlic powder, herbs, salt, pepper and paprika. When we are almost ready to eat il be putting it in the oven to crisp along with the roasties and stuffing in another dish. Il also be making my own yorkie puds. And pudding will be nice and easy....a tin on riced pudding n jam.
We all love Sunday because its relax day and a lovely dinner along with a family film to follow.
Got to put the washing away and iron ds1's uniform and find something to wear for ds2 (7months)as they are having a school photo taken together tomorrow.
Got to go I'm due a cuppa coffee or il look like a zombie all day lolDs2 born 3/4/12 8lbs 8.5:j

Frugal, thrifty, tight mum & wife and proud of it lol

Morning everyone
Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Dull overcast and generally dreich! looks like the heavens are going to open shortly and then rain is forecast for the day, (have just been outside and said heavens have now opened!) DS1 has a study session at school as he has 2 exams on 2 days this week - don't envy him one bit, remember those days well!!
Won't be venturing far today, have a lovely piece of beef topside to roast for lunch, will be doing all the normal trimmings then will be chilling for the rest of the day.
Did some baking yesterday, made cupcakes, choc brownie and twinks - DS1 wanted to make a cheesecake, so we found a recipe and made it together, but it hasn't set properly so think I will re-whisk the filling part and see if it makes it any firmer, at the moment I can' t get it out of the tin as it's too runny! The flavour is excellent though.
Now going to crack on.
Have a great day everyone, stay safe and well x

Morning JackieO and all who follow.
Had a quiet day yesterday. Made Nigel Slaters' chicken and leek pie, as I had everything in the freezer. Really nice for dinner, and four huge pieces to freeze for later. Fillet steak today courtesy of OH:T
Had DGD Imogen yesterday. It was supposed to have been till 5, but SIL was driving to work in a hire car and so0meone ran into the back of him:eek: He was okay and not a lot of damage, other bloke came off worse.
DGD should have gone to Nanny's yesterday, buut she informed Mum, "Don't want to go to Nanny's, want to go to Gramma & Grampas!" So we had her instead. Later that day she said to SIL "Daddy get me a drink!" (She does say Please and Thank you too!) SIL said "Yes, your Majesty" to which she replied "I not Your Majesty, I a Princess, Gramma said so!" Which I had, earlier in the day!:rotfl:
Pouring down at the moment, but we need to get to B & Q.
Anyway, Have a good day allI Believe in saving money!!!:T

Morning all, reallt heavy rain here now and has been through most of the night. Chilly too.
Had a great day at the auction yesterday and OH got some christmas presents sorted out.
Lazy day planned for today, watch the Grand Prix, make a pork and leek pie for tonight, sandwiches for lunch. Never made a meat pie before although have made Cornish Pasties and was going to use the same principles, so hope that it's going to be OK!
Keep warm everyone and best wishes and hugs for those who are struggling.'Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.' T S Eliot0 -

Morning all,
Been raining here all morning, but seems to be brightening up now, and the sun in coming out :T, we are managing to only have the heating on in the evening atm so mornings are still a bit nippy
Uolypool, the way that woman is treating your son is disgusting and unexcusable, You need to get onto the uni first thing tomorrow, such behaviour is very frowned upon, and the little madam needs sorting out, hope your son is happier for being home xx
Easy day today nothing much planned, got some bits finishing on ebay tonight, have done very well :T so need to get them packed up, and see if there is anything else I can list.
Nabs for dinner tonight, so nice and easy, need to get some meat out of the frerezer for our roast tomorrow.
Its our village fireworks tonight, we wont be going as the poor dog is terrified, we shut all the doors and curtains and have the tv up load, this is the 3rd night of big firework events and its enough now  I know that people like them but the amimals are terrified, one big event per area should be enough.
Anyway better get on, have good days all xx0
