CEX stole my phone!

Hi people, I think this is my first post on here, I joined ages ago but never had anything to post till now lol
Ive posted this else where so the following is just a copy and paste of that, Thought it would be easier to paste it than type it all again.
Just wondering if anyone else has had the same sort of thing happen to them at CEX and what can be done.
Took a phone into the Warrington store and went back after the time I was told to see what the offer was, the offer wasn't enough so I said Id leave it, on inspection on my phone I found that they had swapped it!! The IMEI on the box didnt match the phone and the phone IMEI doesn't match the documents that I have or the IMEI that my provider has just given me over the phone!
They actually swapped the front so that it looks like mine! and left screws loose in doing so! When I confronted her she said it didn't matter that the IMEI on the phone and box where different! oh yes it does as its my property..
and when I turned it on it said 'welcome to your updated phone' I asked why shed flashed it, she said she didn't and had only put sim cards in!
I left the shop as I was far to angry at that point to deal with the idiots they employ.
So what next? Ive contacted the police and rang to have the IMEI blocked but cant go any further until Monday now. As it stands I have the front of my phone and the back and insides of a different one!

go back again ask to speak to the manager if no joy say youre going to the police and reporting them for theft but tell them youre doing thisWhat goes around-comes around0

when you take stuff into CEX for test, they give you a receipt. Surely that would show the IMEI?0
-
no receipt, just a plastic card with a bar code on it0
-
That's not how it's meant to be, I've used them at a different location, and was given a till receipt showing the serial number of the device accepted.0

The plastic card with the bar code is just your membership card0

CEX generaly are a walk in store. You want in with the phone and trade it for cash or store credit.
Chances of them having spare parts on hand is limited as they only have the store stock. It's very much down to the store how they handle item brought in, they test electrical items usually for an hour or so, so it depends who they segregate the hardware. Most likely cause is they had a 2nd one and someone mixed them up0 -
They tell you how much you'd get for it and give you a receipt and ask you to come back after they've tested it. The receipt is so that they know why you're there and can locate the item to see if its been tested and then process it.0

Thats fraud, take proof of the handset & imei you had to a police station, you have already got the network to block it as theft. They will not be able to sell it, if they have they will need to refund it to the buyer, ask the police to lodge a IMEI search with all the big 5 networks they may be able to trace the user via the sim card - who could be a CEX staff member.
Also get to citizens advice about lodging a complaint with trading standards of the practice of such at CEX.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0
