HSBC Waiting waiting zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

Anyone else fed up with waiting to deposit money at HSBC bank? At the Moortown branch they only have two cashiers open.I usually deposit money by post but had run out of envolopes. If a customer has a long query bang goes your lunch hour! I have written and complained but have not eben had the courtesy of a reply. Even worse, there is a notice over the cashier proudly saying that HSBC has cut waiting times for customers! Talk about deluded! I feel better now.I shall stock up on the envolopes.

You are lucky that you can actually get to your bank in your lunch hour. My nearest local bank is 13 miles away. When the nearest branch, which was 2 miles away closed down, I phoned them and asked how I could deposit cash easily. I was told I couldn't without coming to the 'local' branch. I explained about the mileage (26 mile round trip) they said, 'Can't you ask a friend to take it in for you?' I was gobsmacked.

I opened another account with a local bank and deposit any cash there, write a cheque and post it to the Halifax now, but what a pain.

I'm sure their aim is to make everyone "automated", but that no good if the tools aren't supplied, or the Hole in the wall is out of action.

I used to work in a local bank, 16 years ago there was 10 staff, now its down to 2 and a part timer, what does that tell you? Don't get me on the subject of the banks call centre....I can't understand them........they don 't understand/or know how to answer what I'm asking.....

The nearest branch of my bank (also HSBC) has the same problem. As well as having only one teller on duty most of the time, they also close at 4.00 most days. Am I in a provincial backwater where the nearest person lives 5 miles away? No - I work in Wandsworth Town in London. There is always a queue, the staff harassed and people losing the will to live. When you do finally reach the holy grail of a real person, unless it is a 'counter issue' you are referred to customer services. Hah! They don't have one of those delightful little stands with someone whose decade would be made worthwhile if they could just help you with your problem! So you have to arrange an appointment. By this time I no longer care and have gone to live in a cave where material issues are no longer relevant. Is it a sign of me just getting older that this kind of stuff bothers me more......

Banks never seem to have learned either that one of their "rush hours" is lunchtime. Exactly the time they let their own employees go to lunch!

I bank with one of the (growing number of) banks which has some sort of tie-up with the Post Office.

I can pay money in over the counter, withdraw on my cashcard without having to use an exposed ATM and, by doing so, can ensure my local (village) Post Office gets a small extra income for doing the job the bank should be doing in the first place.
Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
    They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").

Yep. Same in my village. I haven't been to my bank in town for months. Saved a fortune on bus fares :)

hi folks, just wondering if bank staff were not entitled to a lunch break! i work in a bank and believe me people need educating on how to use internet banking or telephone banking, some will wait in a q to pay phone bills or gas bills, these can all be paid on telephone banking therefore allowing space and time for customers to pay in their cheques or cash.

any suggestions when staff should eat their lunch, perhaps on the run or standing at the counter !

    That's a fair comment BUT...

Bamking is essentially a service industry. At least - if they want to keep customers it is.

In every service industry I've ever been associated with the staff take lunch breaks on rotation to ensure that the customers get looked after.

If you're bank is losing customers - this might well be one of the reasons why.
