I need help
I have this orange phone contract. It was a blackberry curve and I got a TV free (Not sure of the make of both). I got it anyway for £28.93 a month because I was living at my brothers flat and I had worked out I could pay for it on Jsa including my rent I had to give my brother.
My dad thought otherwise. He insisted I take it back the next day. Only problem was the day I got the contact id set up the TV and the box had been taken away by the bin-men. I got told I could not cancel the contract the next day because I had everything bar the box for the TV. After I ended up in a hostel me and my dad came to an arrangement he could pay half and I would. Now he is refusing to pay any of it. His choice. I got my Jsa stopped from the 14th of septemeber till last night. I have had incoming calls cut off. Orange keep ringing and texting me saying I need to change my address (its currently in my old hostels address I have moved since then) and every time I try to do it it ways "calls to this number are barred".
I need to know the following.
I am in debt at the hostel already how long can I leave it till it gets serious.
I am going to pay it but I need to kno what what steps they are going to take. And when I need to start panacking. I need advice badly. Not lectures. Thanks.
ps Im 19 so please explain things in as much detail as I have no idea about debt or anything. And I am really getting worried. Be nice pleawe?

I am being nice, listen to your Dad, grow up and stop taking the wrong paths in life , take it as a learning curve , don't adopt agreements you are unlikely to keep. Get a job £8 a week will cover your contract, so it's only a couple of hours work even on minimum wage.0

Hi Roxa,
Whilst I understand you posting here because you bought a mobile phone the help you need is more about Debt Management than mobile phones.
You will get better help and advice by posting here ... http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=76It's not just about the money0 -
It sounds to me as if you need general debt advice rather than phone advice?
There are other subforums here which deal specifically with debt management etc. May be worth asking there?
As far as I know, people with debt problems can approach their creditors and come to an agreement about paying in installments, but I don't know that much about this, but I'm sure people on the debt forums can help you.
For the benefit of any other people on low incomes considering a phone contract - don't! Get a cheap android phone, and go PAYG - there are some very cheap (or even free) PAYG bundles out there. Then if you really find money a problem you can reduce outgoings by using WIFI to do instant messaging or make calls - there are apps that let you do this.
I know you don't want a lecture, and have learnt your lesson, but other people in similar circumstances also read these posts. I hope someone gives you some good advice about how best to deal with your current situation.0
