O/S Daily Thead 3rdNov

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 3rd Nov. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

    Morning all,
Chilly here this morning, have just looked out of window and there is frost on the cars, have been awake since just gone 5:mad: got up at half 5 and have been pottering round since.Wm been on and stuff now on the airers. Dw has been emptied have put the breadmaker on so the house smells lush.

Haven't managed to post much over the past week so hugs for all , hope everyone is well.

Xmas present shopping is all but finished now:j only have :j2 more presents to buy , then all done. Have them all stacked nicely in my bedroom cupboard.Only have the fresh food shopping to get now for xmas week so happy as usually running round like a blue a**ed fly on christmas eve still.

Have a beef curry all ready to go into the slow cooker for tea tonight as wont be back till late as taking my godsons and god daughter to a fireworks display . Oh the joys ;);)

Ds 1 goes back to uni tomorrow morning, its been lovely having him home for the week. Ds2 is home in 2 weeks time for 4 days, he hasnt settled back into uni life very well this year. There is an issue with one of his housemates thinking that she is god and in charge of everyone else and ds seems to be taking a fair bit of the flack from her:mad:. To the point he is thinking about dropping out of uni :eek:.Any advice on this is very greatfully recieved.

Erm what else has been happening.................... Ds3 got his car. A lovely 5 door corsa. His insurance is just over 2 thousand pound this year:eek:, new driver ,18 years old. He has to have a black box fitted as part of the insurance policy so they monitor his driving and his premiums could go up if he drives badly or dowm if he drives safely. Hoping it will be the latter. ;). Am going to put together a box of stuff that he can keep in his boot, for if an issue arrives whilst he is out and about. Suggestions on a postcard please, I dont drive so dont really have a proper idea of what he should really have.

Right off to have another cuppa before woofer decides he wants to go out . He is still snoring atm but if I say the magic words he will be up like a shot.

Have lovely , warm and safe days all.:)

    Morning all,

Not raining here right now, but the sky is very dark, looks like a day of rain, typical when I have 3 loads of heavy wasing to get dry.

Had a great day in Pompy yesterday, although for the first time ever Primark let us down, dd normally chooses a load of stocking fillers, and then waits outside while I buy one ones I want / can afford, this time there were only a few bits she liked, so I got them all. I did manage to get OH mainly sorted, just need some sweets for him, then stocking fillers for dd and a pressie for mum.

BB thanks for the offer of the eggs, but I dont think they will survive the postal sysyem :rotfl:, lucky you though xx

Sistercas, I have used the majority of my fund for presents, so a lot of mine has alredy gone, I have some left for the food shopping, its so handy though :T

Need to drop dd at work at 8, then back to hoover top to bottom, and have a good clean through, OH is going to put the new (but old) door handle on the lounge and a ball catch thing, so we can actually close the door.

Dinner tonight will be tacos, and then flop in front of the tv for the evening.

    Have good days all xx

Mornig rr, where did you get the handle with the ball catch thing if you dont mind me asking, I really want these as they just push open rather than having to pull handle down if they are what I am thinking they are .

    Morning :hello:

I've been in a funny mood for a while - can't be bothered with anything, everyone irritating me etc. I seem to have snapped back to normal in the last couple of days. What's that about then? :D

I've had three things die on me lately, the latest was a pigeon which flew into the window at full speed. I brought him in but he died a few minutes later :(

We're finally starting to see the effect of mr tru's pay rise :D I can buy Christmas presents now, lol. Will notice a huge difference at the end of january when we'll be DEBT FREE :j Unfortunately the extra money will be swallowed up for a while by new guttering and getting some repointing done ggrrrrrrrr.

It's raining here and everything outside looks yellow-y. The chickens aren't impressed with the mud, I walked down to their shed last night and left footprints about four inches deep.

I found an old hand-held game thing the other day, it has Tetris on it so I made the huge mistake of putting batteries in it to see if it still worked. It did and I've been playing with it ever since :D

I managed to get most things done yesterday, friday is mr tru's day off but he was visiting someone who I won't give the time of day to. I much prefered spending the day doing housework :D Just need to get the towels in the washing machine and sweep the floor. Some paperwork needs sorting so I'll do that and update my spreadsheets. I think The Empire Strikes Back is on later so I'll snuggle down to watch that :D

There appears to be 3 Dailies today :rotfl:

Chilly start to the morning here, glad the heating kicked in!

I had a lovely time with flakey friend last night. Her newborn is beautiful and so content :). She seems to be settling in well to motherhood. We had a lovely catch up and it was nice to see her.

I'm off to Gloucester for the weekend shortly :D, meeting up with 3 of the girls I did Camp America with. It was 4 years ago I did camp so it's nice that we all still meet. We are only going for one night due to peoples jobs etc, but Gloucester is a mid-point between us all. We booked a travelodge for £20pp which is next to the shopping centre. Never been to Gloucester before so looking forward to exploring it. We have planned to go to a fireworks display tonight, and for dinner. For once I'm driving there, train is my prefered option when I go places cos I like the train journey, but it's 3.5hrs by train or 2hrs by car! Settling off about 10am, still need to pack!

Only OS things today will be washing dishes and packing a snack for the journey!

    Have a fab weekend all

Maybe she is not so flakey if she has a contented baby and she is happy. Perhaps being a mum was her raison d' etre. I know it was for me xx

Just dropped off three kids to work. Off shopping soon. Goodness I need to get organised for Christmas and ds2 18th birthday:eek:

    Have a good day x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.
