I have exactly the same problem with my dishwasher- its 2 years old. I've tried everything you have. Sometimes the dishes come out dirtier than when they went in. I have always rinsed dishes before putting them in.
Partan- how much did it cost to get a new pump fitted, if you don't mind me asking? I would be interested to see if anyone else replies with similar problems and if it is a neff/bosch problem only.

i didnt pay anything, it was on warranty. I dealt directly with neff, not the supplier I got it from.
  • I am just wondering if I should fork out for a new pump if this seems to be a general fault in the make.

My 7 year old Bosch is overloaded, everything is put in as it comes off the table (apart from large insoluble lumps) don't use salt or rinse aid (enough in the tablets) and everything comes out spotless every single time. I think yours has a fault and your entitled to have it fixed not messed around. I think JL's stance is rubbish - you have better things to do with your time than call in JL with 'imagined' faults I am sure.

Its a pity they probably have your original call on file now, otherwise I would just call in again and say its stopped working completely so they have to send someone - you can sort out the real issue with the engineer, tell him the office must have got confused with what the fault was.

Invoke the manufacturer's warranty and call Bosch. JL do not employ their own engineers.

Wrong... The op has called john Lewis the supplier (post #5), not Bosch which is why people are suggesting she calls Bosch direct instead.
  • Since I don't seem to have been clear...

My call regarding an engineers visit was to John Lewis as the item was purchased from them 6 months ago with a 2 year JL supported warranty I understood my contract to be with them.

I have not contacted Bosch directly and was advised by JL that unless I had also registered the product purchase with them (which I didn't as I have the 2 year JL warranty) that they would not deal directly with me.

The machine is neither overloaded nor do the dishes have food scraps on them. Whilst I have never used it to wash 12 place setting,s if a product is sold as such I expect it to be capable of that, not just a proportion.

I don't think I'm being unreasonable in expecting the product to deliver what it was sold to do and I think a warranty should be a guarantee to repair faults and make items fit for purpose again. I don't think it is reasonable however to be charged an up front fee and only refunded if an when a 3rd party decides there was a fault.
In my opinion there is far too much room for manipulation of facts and disfunctional behaviour with such a process and before anyone claims that's impossible I once had a BT engineer explain to me how they are supposed to look for other things to repair when called out to faults, that whilst they did not cause the original fault, allow the company to charge the customer in full for the visit and works.

I will be contacting JL again tomorrow to takes things further.

  • i had that issue with my bosch and was a case of not enough water was getting into the machine. the reason was it bascially the internals were gunked up i ran some fairy dishwasher cleaner on a hot wash through it and it seems to be fine now. first think i noticed was not all soap going and pools of brown water on top of things after the drying.

This. You've had problems from the start so there is either a fault with the dishwasher or the installation has been botched. I had a Bosch DW earlier this year, first time ever and I'm not having problems like this.

If I were you, I'd give Bosch a call as well. They may be able to give JL a prod.
