Was trying to get a car on finance, but been turned down, gutted. Going to have to save for a cheapy, not a great time of year to not have a car, gutted...... At least I wont be tied down to a long hire purchase deal I suppose.

Just a bit down about it all to be honest :(

May have done you a favour. It is hard but as you say, no stupid interest HP round your neck. Get a bike for medium distance, walk short distances if you can and put some cash aside for a motor next year.

Plus, it means you can have a bevvy at Christmas as you won't get stuck playing taxi!
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

As said, done you a favor. Save up and buy a car outright if you can, save a shed load in the long run.
  • Think of all the money you're going to save by not paying silly interest rates and/or premium prices for the car. Find a nice, cheap and hopefully reliable banger and not be tied to a finance deal!

    Good luck!

Plus we have 2 young kids. Just a nightmare :(
  • It's quite possible to get a car for a bargain price.

My current motor was £500(with 6 months tax) and has been in service for 6 months with no problems at all. The previous one cost £150 and lasted 2 years with negligible maintenance costs (although I was in the right place at the right time for that one - seller had 20 more calls in first hour after I bought it!)

Keep scanning the free ads until something that feels right pops up!

Do you know anything about cars or have a mechanically minded friend that can go and look at the cars with you?

I found that was the trick to buying a decent old car
