TV Licence court summons

1. Stop watching and recording TV as it is broadcast.
2. Don't just cancel your direct debit - tell TVL that you want to cancel your licence.0 -
Kurtis - Why pay if you do not watch BBC broadcasts? ITV and others have advertisement revenue to pay for their ability to broadcast. Sky broadcasts are offered to those who wish to pay and make use of their services but aren't forced upon, so why must me be forced into paying for something we don't want or use? You wouldn't pay for other meals in a restruant from the menu that you never even ate or had on your table would you? Do we live in a democracy or a dictatorship here? This is what is wrong. Too many people simply lay down or bend over and we wonder why the banks get our tax money in bail outs, why our pensions are picked off bit by bit, and why we're evidently made fools out of
Like Jimmy said, makes sense to also inform them of cancelling, which I have done with a real good reason as to why, and for them not to bother with harassment and never-ending intimidation in an attempt to bully me into re-purchasing a license otherwise I will take court action against them. See how they like threatening letters on a monthly basis
Remember folks, the BBC are the ones that had/have and still covering up a !!!!!phile ring, and work for the interests of the government. We're paying for their ability to protect themselves from criminal conviction and to be rewarded lavishly from it.. over £3 billion generated from TV licences this year. It's nothing more than a scam and we're being robbed as it is in this country.. This site is called money saving expert, and what better advise to give than to tell people to cancel their TV licences and make the BBC
properly reform and allow people the chance to make up their own minds of whether to opt in to BBC services or not. They know fine well they wouldn't survive0 -

I presume that by asking if we live in a democracy or a dictatorship you are wanting to live in a democracy. Then why advocate something that is against the will of the democracy? This site is called money saving expert, and what better advise to give than to tell people to cancel their TV licences0 -
The OP has not stated that they've stopped watching TV, just that they've stopped paying for the licence.
Ageing is a privilege not everyone gets.

The NHS etc. are different examples. We pay towards the NHS to care for our grandparents, children, manage appointments and ongoing maintenance or storage of our medical files on an ongoing basis. Annual eye and health checks we all get at some point as well as an ambulance service should we have a serious accident. Big difference to that and Eastenders.
People who flat out refuse to watch or support the BBC shouldn't be forced to. This is not the will of the people. A recent poll showed that almost 70% of people thought the license fee was a rip off, and now we're going to have to foot the bill for their legal costs and cover for this Savile incident.
It should become a subscription service and those who like it and don't mind paying to fund it should be given the opportunity to do so. Advertisements will have to be included to make up for lost membership though, but at least it's more democratic
Besides, my "illegal" film downloading was only temporary. I had to remove packages I didn't need due to financial circumstances, but always intended to go back to them. I have lost count the amount of times I've been in an odeon and cineworld. I have a huge dvd and blu ray collection and have given more to the movie industry than some other downloaders have. I have even went out and bought movies that I have downloaded (Raid Redemption, Sherlock Holmes, american horror story, and more) due to thinking they were good and would have never normally looked twice at. I have at least 6 TV box sets purchased as the result of downloads. I guess it depends on the individual but the industry like to believe all people who download cost the industry money, and I say it's the opposite. It's just knowing how to properly utilize the internet0 -

BBC is the war propaganda machine. We should have a say in all important decisions that affect our future living standards.
Electable political party members and leaders
NHS director staff electable candidates
Chief of police voting
State transport modifications
EU/Scotland decisions
Wars and foreign conflicts
BBC public service broadcasting
large infrastructure selling
banking bail outs
Literally ANYTHING our tax money is used for should require our permission and authorization. That's true democracy - Not by ticking a box once every few years0 -
Within reason of course. A pencil isn't going to have a dramatic affect on our lives, but big decisions will.
Unfortunately it isn't as easy as you think. 78% of our MP's are millionaires and come from privileged backgrounds. You're kidding yourself if you think some street dwelling publicly educated child will ever make it to PM in these modern times.
I would like to have my representative vote for me, the only problem is that none ever keep their electoral pledges and promises. In fact, people will struggle to find any who do, and the local MP's who try don't have a loud enough voice.
From BBC licence to political voting0 -
Baring in mind you can't get the majority of the population to vote in a General Election the chances of any of this every happening are slim to none. Voter apathy would win out.0

* using the AV system (I thought we rejected that)
