True but thats done on the server side. It can be updated at any time without doing anything to the phone and it's not directly related to the IOS update.
You can still use Google Maps, it's just not the default mapping application, and the iOS maps have turn by turn directions which Google didn't.
You could also install Waze or NavFree both of which are free GPS mappers too.
the OP should really install it, but thats my opinion only.0 -
I upgraded my iphone 4s to IOS 6. What a load of crap from a multi-billion dollar company. Its like no one dare say it.
My iphone 4s was the best on IOS 5.1.1. I even thought of getting a iphone 5 until I saw that it was the same phone with a new back case with a renewed premium cost.
Now they have released a half @r$$ed patch that still doesn't solve half the problems the original upgrade caused. Half of me thinks they did it on purpose knowing people are sheep and will not move as an iphone is all they know. Then in an effort to sort this out people will naturally switch to an iphone 5. I don't think so!
When my upgrade is due I will be ditching Apple and moving to Android as I should be paying alot less for such a phone with the features any iphone can provide, especially in the next 18 months.
What amazes me is that there are about 20 apple fan boy sites all with links to sweaty work arounds and not one of them is a genuine apple communication to its customers, which is what a responsible company should do. Jobs wouldn't allow such a calamity as exec and chief with a rep to keep and all, get it sorted Timmy :money: This has taken a chunk out off my positive perception of apple:cool:The harder one works the luckier one gets!0 -
If its not broke..etc.I would stick & not upgrade as there are always bugs with new software that need to be sorted.0

Wait till you get Android, once the phone is out of the door most vendors lose interest in pushing any updates to it....0 -
God do people use maps that much!! I don't ever use my maps and don't see why it is so important! I have sat nav in my car so why would i need it! Anyway apple maps is not great but it still works perfectly well if you need to see where you are going. YouTube is an app you can download now so makes no difference! IOS6 runs so much smoother than IOS5 and i don't see why anybody would want to keep IOS5. The upgrades on IOS6 is worth the loss of the maps!0

Come on what benefits? The passbook? Ok fair dos FaceTime over the network is good but that should have been included when they released it.
Think about value for money just like the Spanish and voda at the moment via hard times. I mean some people on these forums are talking about paying £60 plus per month for an iPhone 5, I can't justify that sort of spending even on a decent wage. That's basically just short of a decent mobile contract, digital tv package, landline and a broadband money. it's an over priced over inflated bubble that needs popping, it's a great business plan though from apple. The harder one works the luckier one gets!0 -
There are not loads of new features but im just saying it runs a lot better!! The camera now takes panoramic shots which is cool!0
