tr3mor is right about the marketing con with the 'advanced' milks etc. They of course don't contain enough to make an impact in your life, best way if your normal diet lacks in it IMO is supplements, but that is another to be careful with what you buy. Try asking on the Health Board if you want more info on those. Seriously I don't think the 'omega 3' focused products are worth paying the extra for. Good quality fish oils in decent amounts has been proven to have more effect than just the areas you mentioned, but research has shown it's all about how much they have that makes the difference.

Pampers they didn't do at my local store last time I was there. To get all what is on your list inc the branded products I think you'd be best off sticking either to where you use, possibly compare the prices on https://www.mysupermarket.com with other leading stores who also sell the products, but like has been said there is always the option of trying something new.

I generally shop at asda most of the time and buy a lot of their smart price stuff such as beans, tomatoes, bread, milk, biscuits, meat, cheese and crisps. I have also in the past shopped at Lidl, and although I do like Lidl for some things I think that if the main things you buy from asda are smart price you re best of sticking there.

Lidl fruit and veg I didn't really think was as good quality, it didn't seem to last as long as fruit/veg I bought from Asda.

The reason I do like Lidl as someone else has already mentioned, is that they do have a lot of things that you wouldn't find anywhere else. Also they have offers on non-food items (same at Aldi) that change every week, sometimes they have household products, or garden things etc, but they constantly change.

Hope I've been some help to you anyway

yeah lil_me and that is the thing, I'd rather my kids got it from their diet that give them supplements, so if they are getting some extra from the milk thats fine by me, they are not about to start eating mackerel and herrings every day. I know they'd need to be drinking like 8 pints of it a day to get their ful RDa of omega-3 but its not their sole source, just a source. Anyway , as you said thats a discussion for another board!

I'm not that bothered about the brand of most things, the pampers for example I just buy the pullups of those as they are cheaper than the other barnds of pullups (bizarrely). I keep reading that Lidl nappies are way cheaper so I wondered if they do pullups too ?

At least I know not to be disappointed tomorrow when I do go to Lidl's. But as you say I do fancy trying something new. Trudging down the same aisles parrot fashion every week is so boring.

thanks for the replies everyone, I'll report back my findings tomorrow!

tr3mor, whether or not omega-3 milk is a marketing con or not isnt going to affect whether Lidl stock it !!

Lidl tend not to market their goods based on false advertising. Clicky Here

The whole idea of moneysaving is to be wise to companies marketing rubbish that you don't need at you.

The fact that Lidl don't stock brands which have huge marketing budgets would imply that Lidl won't stock marketing cons.

I think they may do a pull up version, I think Aldi do too, unsure on quality of course. Like everything it's worth a try, I'd maybe tae a list with you with your Asda prices on, then write next to them what the Lidl alternative was and how much. Always worth noting size difference when it comes to products, like the eggs, price by weight of cheese etc.

Just been nosey online, the equal ham to the one I stated the price for in Lidls, Asda Smart Price same weight is 35p. So that's 14p cheaper a pack than the Lidl near me. Things like that I thought Lidl would be cheaper for.

    I've just remembered another thing.

All of the fancy milks come in 1 litre bottles, all of the normal milks come in 2 pint bottles.

They hope you don't notice this!

As sure as I am that the other stuff is. I don't buy it for me, it's for my sister that I go and if I go to Asda I get her the smart price and if I go to Lidls I get that one so I pressume they are alike in quality for what they are. Prepacked cheap ham basically, probably got more water in than meat but hey ho, some like it, hams not something I eat myself so no idea.

If you are shopping at Lidl for the first time, take some carrier bags with you. They don't provide them for free!

I buy Lidls nappies for my 2 and a half yr old son (hopefully soon to be out of them in the day!) They do sell the pull up version but I prefer the cost of the nappies in comparison to a pull up which does the same job.

I buy the Junior size nappies, 44 in a pack for £5.29. In actual fact I prefer them to Pampers, Huggies etc as when I change my sons nappy he doesn't have any of the crystals on his skin which I have found to happen with the other brands. Just my opinion though.
