Softstuff tell DH it's either bought stuff or he makes it himself! Interestingly the Aldi xmas pud came near the top of a taste test here and it obviously cost quite a bit more than the Fortnum and Mason pud which came far below it.
I'm afraid charity letters go in the bin here. When DH worked we donated but lately we have had to limit our donations to 'stuff'. They've had plenty of that at least.

Good morning everyone, hope your all ok.
Have woken up after another dodgy nights sleep, with a headache. I think its the worry, but i have work today. We have a temp new girl who is fun and we are working this afternoon together. Have decided that the original job is ok, and will stay for the forseable future. Better the devil you know and all that.

Had a lovely day yesterday, but ended the day with a huge bill from the new tyres. And today i have just found out the tumble dryer that is just out of its year guarentee, had died. Well not died but it is working with a terrible burning smell and keeps stopping. Think its just plain dangerous to leave it.

Right must crack on, have to get showered and dressed. work is at lunchtime.

    have a good day everyone.

Well, you guys don't have to tell me twice, I'm buying it. Hubby will be fine, if a touch dissappointed (my fault for making, if I do say so myself, the best Christmas cake and pudding *ever*). I just need to tell my mother in law.....

Mardatha, you're spot on about having to do things twice. I ballsed up a cup of tea earlier so who knows what I could do to a pudding.

WMF thanks for the curry compliment, it did make me smile.

JKJ, I stopped monthly donations because of pestering and junk mail. Instead now I do things I feel are more practical and I know where the money is going (pet food/cat litter donations to shelters/RSPCA, food donations to homeless shelters/foodbanks, volunteering for charities). I didn't like the idea of most of my donation being spent on wages and advertising.

Bad news in the VP household tonight. Mr VP works until 7.30 pm and at 7.20 he was called into the office and told that he no longer had a job :(. Apparently the project he was employed to manage is not bringing in the amount of money that they thought it would. This was topped of with the comment that he is a eally nice blok to have about the office. Thats nice but it does not pay the bills.

:( Oh, Mrs VP, that's dreadful. What a time to spring it on someone. Really really hope he finds something soon.
    Thank you for my welcomes.

    MeanMarie, everything good here. X

Mrs VP, I am sorry your husband has lost his job. X

I'm not as much as a toughie as many of you are. I am in awe of lots of you.

I had to de-lurk as I think about many of you in Real Life!

Mardatha, for instance, every time I buy sweeties!

And GreyQueen for (re!)introducing me to Frey Bentos pies! :rotfl:

    Good night all

:D Hokay, but if they give you indigestion, don't curse my (user) name, willya?

I jokingly call them siege food. So very stackable..... and will be able to be thrown frisbee-style underhand at zombies come the apocalypse, even by a wussy girl-thrower like me.

Did anyone see the busker and his cat doing high 5's on the One Show last night?

:) I read the book a couple of months ago, 75p from the c.s. and passed it to Mum. It's a real heartwarmer. Bob-the-cat is an amazing animal. Highly-recommend it to anyone.

(((((((Softstuff)))))) Christmas will have to happen whether you're well enough to bake up a storm or not. Shortcut anything and everything humanly possible and get 'em sozzled if necessary.

You could put a notice up in your kitchen:

The chef is indisposed. Normal service will resume at some unspecified point in the future. Meanwhile, fetch me TEA.

    Take care of yourself, hun.

:p Well I've been doing the Dance of the Dying Slug this past 6 days, fellow ME-ers like Mardatha will know the feeling well. Dunno why, hope it will pass soon. Either that, or I am about to become one of those rare hibernating humans.

Am resting a lot and going to bed about 9 pm and waiting for it to pass. A lot of stuff does, in my experience.

Have a good day, everyone, GQ xx

    Morning everyone :)

Hugs to everyone that wants/needs them. I'm afraid that my black dog is sitting on my feet and growling softly at me at the moment, so apologises for the lack of individual responses.
I'm managing to get into the charity shop and to make sure that everyone is fed and has clean clothes, but that is about the limit of my abilities. I can fake being ok for so long and then I need to withdraw from the world and recharge for a while. This happened after Knit and Natter, I faked being alright for 2 hours and then cried and panicked all the way home. I am really hoping that DH is home tonight to go to DS1's parent's evening at college as I don't think I'm going to be up to doing it by myself.
I also found out yesterday that my friend's baby Florence has Down's Syndrome. So that came as a bit of a shock.

Today I need to cook Shepherd's Pie for dinner and do as much laundry as I have the energy for before book group this afternoon. I also need DH and the boys to sort out a meal plan with me as I am finding working out what to cook to be very difficult at the moment. Hopefully it will be easier than last time when I just got replies of "Anything, I don't know and I don't like that"

Sorry for whining. Take care everyone xxx

*hugs* SDG31000, I hope you're feeling better soon.

Thanks GQ. The notice may as well already be up, given how little I've done in there recently. I'm sorry you've been sluglike, I'm finding (since napping the day away), there's a fair bit to be said for hibernation. If it's good enough for my teddy bear....

Morning all, I woke up to a condensation free flat this morning and it was wonderful! The air even feels different and I know this sounds stupid but it feels warmer, I will turn the heating down tonight and see if I notice the difference.

I even went to the gym before work so hopefully I will start reducing the size of my bum again, at the moment it is the size of Wales....heheheheh

Right, work now. Best wishes and all positive thoughts/prayers to those who need them. :)
I promise that I will do my best.....

Nuttyp it could be as simple as an internal filter needing cleaning on your TD. Mine has a lint catcher in the door which I clear regularly so I was surprised when the thing stopped working and a warning light came on. Dug out the manual and was quite surprised to find there's another filter which involved undoing a plate at the front of the machine at the bottom and pulling out a big box type thing with lots of mesh screens. Hosed it down and was amazed at the amount of grey sludge that came out. After that it worked perfectly
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!
  • Good morning everyone and thank you for the welcome. I think that Mardathas sweeties are safe from me as i live on the london/kent border and Jerrry has 3 r's in his name as my eldest bought him home as a 5 week kitten (was going to be drowned!) and thought that was how you spelt the name. She also got a bit confused as she thought jerrry was the cat in Tom and Jerry.
We are currently doing the 6th form/college trawl with my middle daughter and last night she worried me to death by not coming home from school. Turns out she had decided to got to visit a 6th from and thought i would guess that was where she was and somehow know that she was safe and what time she would be home:mad:.
Today will be good though as i am going to a brownie planning meeting with my fellow leaders at lunchtime and then brownies is tonight and we are having a cupcake relay followed by a paper bun fight:Tlots of fun!
I hope you all can have a nice day today. xx
