Fuddle,
Please don't despair. It takes a lot of paperwork and approvals up a chain to work with children. You are on the right road. Remember a few weeks ago you were worrying about the new house. You are much stronger than you think. If this does not work out there will be something hovering. I am a great believer in this. Take heart.0 -
Peanut can highly recommend these people for your rings http://www.hattongardenmetals.com/
There is a thread on here about them with good reviews."When one door closes another door opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us" Alexander Graham Bell0 -
re: selling gold.I sold an old gold charm bracelet for a fair bit many years ago when I was broke. ThenI sold most of the rest a while ago - mostly unwanted gifts from exs, broken bits etc. I sold to a local jeweller but trawled round several to get the best price. There was a fair difference in the prices offered. In the end one of the most reputable jewellers with best customer service offered the best price. I tried a couple that also offered pawnbroking and they offered the lowest rates and had the worst customer service. I told each place the highest offer I had (after their valuation) to see if they would top it - they would only match it at best.
Not sure about online services - I have heard horror stories and personally would worry my package got lost in the post. Not saying they are all dodgy - but do your homework first to be on the safe side.

None of them would touch my gold rings with stones on or rather they wouldn't buy the whole ring just the gold part. I am sure they can sell on precious stones, they will hardly chuck them in the bin surely? I was thinking when I have lots of time (yeah right) I will try alternatives to see if I can sell them for a fair price.0 -
