well, a quick catch up....rain has set in here and its forecast to be wet and windy for the next few days...winter is upon us at last. I am trying not to watch the riots in other parts of Greece on the tv as it makes me feel sad to see people having to go to such extremes to be heard.

Went to the gym today and had a good workout. Home and lit the fire as it was cold and damp by then outside. Hot chicken and rice noodle soup for lunch (home made) which warmed me up lovely. I put too many noodles in so scooped out two portions to have as a sort of gluten free pot noodle sometime....they are now in the freezer.

OH has gone to a meeting in town so I hope he has avoided the town centre in case there are demonstrations going on about the austerity measures being voted on at midnight tonight.

I was spitting feathers in anger earlier tonight.....I got a phone call from someone shouting at me for something I posted on my facebook. Now he is not on my facebook (it's restricted to close friends only) and it could only be one person who told him I put the comment on and she is (was) my friend.

When we went out at the weekend I was told this man had gone home drunk and my OH stood in for him. I mentioned it on my facebook and he rang me tonight. I was so angry...I was told about him in good faith and we helped them out by standing in for him for free.....I also told him that I had nothing to defend myself for, as it was just someone else s**t stirring about what I said on my page and that I would sort out that person for doing it. I am still annoyed about it. I have blocked her from my facebook and have sent her a message saying why I did it.

I am waiting to see what transpires next. Why do people do this? She has been a good friend and we have helped her and her husband out many times in the past. I thought she was sarcastic with me this morning but just let it go and ignored it. Obviously she was planning to do this....or had already done it and was waiting for results..... hmmmm

2tonsils, karma will prevail this so called friend. What goes around comes around.

Hope everyone is wrapped up warm, tis very chilly where i am. Tumble dryer has died, but had to have 4 tyres on my car today and oh needs 2 tomorrow...... these things are sent to try us. Have had to use the credit card, so will be paying for the tyres next month. Looks like a tight xmas again. My car also needs taxing at the end of the month and OH needs his mot'ing.

Just having a nice cuppa, having a restful evening for once.

I bought a dehumidifier today as I am fed up of mopping the windowsills every day between October and March. It is buzzing away in the hall at the moment and all my windows are clear! I have had nearly a quarter of a tank out of it already. WOW!
I promise that I will do my best.....

Evening toughies and a warm welcome to the newbies and de-lurkers, nice to see you!

Sorry to hear so much sadness and bad news again, have a virtual dodgy hug and some of my special spiced apple and bramble buns and a cup of strong tea - both the latter have helped me a bit this week! :D

I love CS, too, but it's getting hard round here to find clothes in my littlies' sizes. I once saw a Monsoon ladies woollen/tweed cape, close to knee length, only £12. Went away for a think (money was tight that week) and went back for it an hour later, but it had gone - I was devastated! I'd seen it new for about £120 - what a silly moo!

Pooky, your wreaths are fab! May I borrow some of your ideas for our house, please?

fuddle, I wish you lived closer to me so you could teach me to crochet! I've watched many youtube videos and read books, but not the same as a real person telling/showing you what to do.

Hugs to all who are in pain of any kind.

Mrs MH....nice to see you here, hope things are going well for you.

Mossy has been sniffing round and barking outside for last couple of days, trying to get under the car when I take him out at night....we have a cat!! Haven't seen it close up but OH fed it this morning while I was out and he reckoned that it has some kind of injury....now safely in one of the sheds where he/she can recover to its hearts content and be fed....Mossy will have to learn lesson about cats being off limits.

We are still having conniptions about what to do about OH's life assurance, company wants another €388 per month which we can just about pay if we put every penny we have into it, but it will increase again next year and not sure whether we will be able to do anything then, as our budget in December is allegedly going to hit pensioners more than others...getting more confused as time goes by, nothing seems to sort itself for me these days.

Cold here and I am living on soup which seems to help.

  • Bad news in the VP household tonight. Mr VP works until 7.30 pm and at 7.20 he was called into the office and told that he no longer had a job :(. Apparently the project he was employed to manage is not bringing in the amount of money that they thought it would. This was topped of with the comment that he is a eally nice blok to have about the office. Thats nice but it does not pay the bills.

Have stopped feeling sorry for myself now. We will be sitting down tomorrow to look at our finances. He is off to the job centre and the employment agencies tomorrow. DD2 (16) has a 21/2 hour gap between lectures tomorrow and has asked her dad to pick her up so that she can go to the job centre with him to look for a job as well.

It is a good job I have learned so much about thrift on this thread, I am going to need to step my thrifty ways up a gear.

I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

Really sorry to hear that Mrs VP. :(
Tell him to stay positive and keep plugging away, and he will find something.
    There's a lot of it about isn't there? :(

Congratulations to those with good news today and hugs for those that have had bad news. I am too tired to name everyone after spending the day in York with ds3.
