Have had a mad cooking session today, cooked roast dinner, two sets of muffins, tomato based sauce to go with meatballs tomorrow and a huge pan of soup for group on Thursday.
Its gonna be a really busy week so I figured if I could get a load of the cooking out of the way I stand a chance of not losing my mind totally.
My mother called earlier hinting about DD6 birthday (we usually do a family meal) but then went onto gloat how they all went over to my Uncles home without me - and I found I cant face it yet! So dinner is not on the cards!:)0 -
Good on ya Kidcat.0

KIDCAT stay strong pet and don't let it get under your skin, I found the best way to deal with my dear Mamma was not to react at all, which is what she wanted, and it drove her crazy but gave me a little control!!! It didn't ever stop her but it slowed down the drip feed of venom , Thinking of you Cheers Lyn xxx.0

Thank you ladies - I have found that the distancing is working for me, and I am liking it
She has clearly been calling me for everything while they were away - I can tell from the status on FB from my family members, if it continues I am deleting them - its not like they care anyway so its no great loss.0 -
MAR today I cooked my joint of brisket in the slow cooker, it went in at 10ish this morning and we ate some of it at 7.30 this evening. We had two good slices each with some of last years new potatoes from the freezer, two small yorkshires from earlier in the week, some steamed carrots and steamed purple sprouters along with some nice gravy from the slow cooker. The rest is cooling down in the fridge to be sorted out tomorrow. I also have about 1 litre of gravy left so that will make for some nice dishes to freeze. Will post how I use it up so it gives you an idea of how far it stretches, Cheers Lyn xxx.0

Have a look at Titchfield, it's still mostly got the Medieval look, it was the support village for Titchfield Abbey, now long gone, but we still have the tithe barn, and it is a lovely little place, expensive though, Lyn x.
Ooh... I've found oneNow I just need to a. Get OH to have a look with me and b. get this place sorted out and on the market
I've done a deal where I get to have a dog and chickens when we move... This place isn't suitable for either really.
And I have brisket inform the farmers' market in the freezer... I'm busy saving to move. We have been to the bank so now have a budget and I'm not planning on spending it all on buying, as we're not looking to buy somewhere perfect, but somewhere we can make perfect.0 -
I learn too;)thanks."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

We've decided this month to note every penny we spend so we can finally start to track our money and budget things
We need to start sorting as we're now £600-£700 a month worse off

Hokay, Softstuff, I will raise you 26 rolls t.p., 17 tubes toothpaste, 159 bars of soap and 2.25 litres of shampoo.
Well GQ, I knew I'd not win on soap quantity, though I know my bars are bigger (500g each). But I see your 26 rolls of TP and raise you another 30 (48 roll packs were on special), as for toothpaste we tie, though I have the same in toothbrushes. Shampoo is off the table thanks to the prescription one we use (at $26 for 250ml, I'll never be able to build up a stash), but I have a new card! Washing up liquid! 18 bottles of fairy! At 99c a bottle (60p) I couldn't say no.
Innit funny how you and I do this, when I think we actually live in the smallest homes on the thread :rotfl:
Welcome Bexim, I'd try to explain what GQ and I are up to, but I can't.
Kidcat, you're doing the right thing. Avoiding conflict and people who want to bring it.
Peanut, when suggestions arise of going out for dinner, unless they immediately suggest somewhere very cheap, I often counter with a suggestion I cook. It works out cheap and I'm not bad, so they're happy.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
I am quite envious of the large quantities of things! OH can't get his head around singular massive boxes of washing up powder or one loan pack of 30 rolls of tp! To be fair though, I would almost certainly have the smallest home by far on this thread, we have no space for anything more!0
