    Sorry about the paycut Fuddle,
Kaitieowl, You can guess what I think about the MP and hsi comments about taking more away from welfare.

An ex Conservative(and rich)Defense secretary I heard on the news approx an hour ago has criticised this idea/comment from Hammond the Defense Secretary and has said the error is the amount of Foreign Aid that has been ring fenced and will in fact increase. He says money could be saved by reducing that.

The truth is if the money we pay to the EU or in Foreign was stopped, money saved will not be seen or benefit us. It will just evaporate.

I guess we could all benefit if there was a chance of it paying off the national debt but again I think that will always exist and Goverments will always be borrowing money.

Hammond has no idea because he is not living on the breadline and has no experience the life many are living, its alien to him. And many needing help are working.

I'm trying not to inflame or upset others on here so talking in very general terms.

    From my Blog...
My neighbour(a builder)says if work does not pick up over the next six months he'll be out of a job. He says that he has 37 men laid off at this time.

He said the jeans he was wearing today were worth £3 from ASDA, the shirt from the charity shop that I use, that cost 99p

He said he's no longer buying soup in the shops(and making his own)for his lunch when at work.

If I can stay where I am, I have a garden and have been tempted to create a vegetable patch.

But living alone eating less/small portions I can make vegetables last over many meals and they are still reasonably cheap.

At present I can have a bag of three large carrots, two onions, a swede and two parsnips for £1. A swede on its own can cost 80p

If I don't go for the big branded names I can get big bags of mixed frozen veg(already prepared)for around 80p. Again, I can get quite a few meals out of that.

Growing my own may still be a good idea though. I could maybe cheat by using raised beds and grow bags etc...

We all see the Hollywood image of America but my friend who lives there is thinking of starting a vegetable garden and is also going back to comfort food/wartime recipes and says there are signs of people starting what used to be called "Victory Gardens"

I have been looking around the shop mcculloch29 mentions only today and when I get some space in the freezer, I will be taking up some of the offers mentoned. If I don't find some elsewhere with use of a bus pass in neighbouring towns that have other discount shops/hit the shops when they reduce items.

Those all the suicides? I know there is a separate ATOS casualty List ...I'd like to know the statistics from deaths from the cold, and starvation, but I guess they will take awhile to become apparent.

It's really disgusting isn't it

That list is sad and shameful. Tip of an iceberg. To say this after the recent by election defeat and how they hope to reconnect with the public shows just how out of touch they are.

    Hehe, yes indeed.

It amazed me that there was such security for your nethers, but bras hadn't really taken off, so boobs were left to "float" free. I can't be doing with that at all, if I bend over with these swinging I'd never see what i was after.

Sorry to hear about your OH Fuddle. It sometimes seems to me that every time we get a bit of cash or a saving somewhere, like you did by moving, it gets swallowed up by something else.

I seem to have developed a siege mentality this week. It happens after I've been ill. I defrosted the freezer and am now promptly filling it as best I can.

GQ, I can no longer play food poker, but thanks to an offer on soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes, do you fancy a quick game of toiletries blackjack?
