I've got a mince cookbook. The Complete Book of Mince. One consequence of this is the RV says if he gets any more mince he'll scream!

Is divorce or murther a valid option?
He'd be on a sticky wicket if he had to eat outta my kitchen; smacked upside the head and sent up to the chippy to feed himself off his own money. I like mince, get it from the butchers, £1.90 per 500g for best beef mince.
I feel with a bag of mince and a coupla tins to tomatoes that the world is my mollusc.
Hokay, the tea is drunken and the excuses are all exhausted; I shall jump on the pushbike and go do some gardening. If only we had some sun...............

That's a great price GQ - I can sometimes get it for £8.50 a kilo here, but mostly nearer £9. We seem to pay more for everything! lovely meat though.
Mar I've been offered half a mutton for £55, so think i'm going to go with that - see how long it lasts. It's from a local farm here, who also do mail order.0 -
:rotfl:Hey Monnagran, I have your solution right here! In the villages in Turkey all the women wear these village knickers:
They have the advantage that none of the elastic in them touches your skin. Of course, with knickers like that you can be guaranteed nothing and no-one else will touch your skin either
Great for family planning:rotfl::rotfl:What used to be called 'Harvest Festival Knickers ' as in

Discuss.... I was out with my mate in the week shopping and they had one of those vintage signs in N3xt which says "The world is your oyster" and I had one of those moments you have from time to time when you see something you've seen for years and it strikes you as very odd (tell me other people get those too please?)
I know 'what' the world is your oyster means, as in..the whole world is there for your taking... but Really The world is your greyish/beige rather strongly tasting fishy bi-valve with a reputation as an aphrodisiac when eaten raw, and a bit of a reputation as a decadent luxury, some 100 years after being the food of the poor....really doesn't have the same ring does it...??? What does "The world is your oyster" really mean???
DD had an epiphany in the week when she turned to me and said "Cheese is really expensive...so was fourpence expensive when the expression "Standing there like cheese a fourpence" was first used?..... I said have you only just worked that out! LOL!

Kate my understanding is that it originates from the Merry Wives of Windsor - if I recall someone asked for a loan and was refused, so threatened to get said money through use of a weapon (a sword) - as one would use a sword to open an oyster to extract the pearl. Modern thinking has adapted this to have a less violent meaning - the world is your oyster, you are the pearl, that is the most valuable thing in your world.0

Hi Possession - thank you for that - what is it with all the box receipes - you can just use flour/sugar/marg/egg can't you? I just thought the condensation that sometimes drips down from the lid would make the top of the cake go odd. Sorry for silly questions0
