Morning everyone, was working yesterday and found out next week we have another 2 new starters, no idea why as we are fully staffed. I asked our manager and he said dont work you will always get your hours and a few extra. SO i can only guess a new shop is going to open in the area somewhere. We have the sun out, but with the wind it is baltic. I have put the washing on, so that will be pegged out before i leave for work.
I had a brilliant nights sleep last night, and there is no answer for it apart from i had a naughty hot chocolate at work last night at 930pm. It was all smooth and yummy yummy in my tummy!!!
Had to smile at the roland comments on here!! Does the ones in the garden wear a har and waitcoat like the one on telly?? i wonder if he says ''yeah rat fans, roland here living it large'' lol. sorry couldnt help myself.
take care everyone xBSC member 137

SILVASAVA thank you for that absolutely wonderful image of the roland flying through the air to boingggg off the wardrobe door and your very purry and happy catkin!!!! It is going to keep me giggling for the rest of the day!!!
NUTTY I can vouch for the fact that our rolands do not wear anything other than a worried expression cos I throw things at them and even manage to get the odd one if I'm not actually aiming at it. Of course it goes without saying that if I am actually aiming, all I can hit is the fence!!!!! Cheers Lyn xxx.0 -
We have Rolands here too... they keep themselves to themselves mainly, and as we are surrounded by fields, and have chickens/compost it's inevitable. I won't let OH use poison because of the many birds of prey we have here. This morning I when I was putting the bins out, I discovered that the lid had blown off the food waste bin (there's not usually much in it!) and something, I'm presuming the Rolands, had cleaned it out nicely for me. Lovely boys, that was an ickky job I was dreading :rotfl:
Apart from that...went to the GP yesterday to tell her about the cholesterol check needed, so have a fasting () blood test booked for a couple of weeks away. She also collared me for an overdue smear test while I was there, no escaping, the nurse was there doing them and they had a slot in ten minutes. Oh well, I suppose it means I can cross that off the to do list.
Today's list of things to address includes some paperwork, and I need to dig out the Dog Insurance papers, I was chatting to DD the other day and her insurance is so much less than mine, I ran my two through an online calculator, and now am being pestered by the 'More Than - can we help you' team on the phone. I want to compare covers. It's a tenner a month less than Tesc*, which is worth saving over the year, but I want to make sure the girls have the best cover, which is after all the point of the exercise!!!
Had an e-mail from my mum (AKA Mrs DailyMail) this morning ranting on about some woman claiming loads of benefits who was in the papers the other day, and pointed out to her that 'word on the streets' was that she was a 'plant' put there to do precisely what she had done, wind people like my DM up!!! They also had a news feature on the inequities of bedroom tax on Radio 4 this morning, and I got up to the OH having ranty pants about that too!!! Think they are hoping to get all the people at the bottom of the pile fighting amongst themselves, while they sit on the top and stick their fat snouts in the cream! Seems to be working. We must resist
Apart from that....nothing much going on. Hope you are all having a good day. Another hug for Kidcat, just because she deserves one!

Wishing you well with the Dr's appointments Kate...and yes, I heard that Radio 4 piece on the BT. And I think you are right..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Hi all, hope everyone's well and things aren't getting on top of you too much.
Nice and sunny here, although a bit cold - feeling good that I've hung washing on the line!
I've had a emotional week so far. I got a phone call from my daughter's school saying she had collapsed. We rushed there and she had had a bad diabetic hypo. The ambulance took 35 mins to arrive! Poor thing really wasn't with it and didn't really come round properly until 5pm (hypo was before lunch) her temperature dropped to 34 degress, which I now know to wrap her up warm when she has a hypo.
Today I took my 6yr old to the GP because for the last couple of days he's had a temperature, on and off. GP listened to his chest, then spent ages listening to his heart and said he has a heart murmurHe said it might be because he is ill, so gave him penicillin and told me to take him back in 2 weeks. Poor thing is hardly ever ill and I can't remember the last time I took him to the doctors, so I guess it's lucky the GP picked it up but it's still very worrying.
I must remember that "Money Saving" is not buying heavily discounted items that I do not need. :hello:0 -
Oh MadelinesMum,
Of course you are worried...Lets hope both illnesses are temporary and as you say at least they were on top of everything...
A hug for you all
Sadly this year has for many continued much as the last...hoping things improve."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

I had to stop feeding the birds after I looked out of the window and there was a Roland sitting on the bird table. My fussy SIL was there at the time as well and I could have done without that. It was less than a foot outside the window but took no notice when I banged on the glass.
And when our local council introduced food waste collections we were all issued with these supposedly rodent proof bins. Little burgers chewed a great big hole in the bottom within the first three months. I think there must have been a crack in the plastic, though, because the replacement is OK so far.
I just accept that there will be rats outside because there are always some people who don't bother to keep their rubbish in proper bins. Outside is fine as long as they don't come in!! I had to have the ratcatcher in to deal with a wasp's nest last summer and he told me that when Lewisham Council went over to wheely bins their rat problem diminished massively. Our council used to try and discourage wheely bins because they said it "encouraged people to put out more rubbish", but I (sensibly) ignored that - and, guess what? I don't fill the bin just because it's there. It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Madelinesmum - don't worry, heart murmers can be very straightforward things. My Goddaughter had one as a child and is now absolutely fine - most close up by themselves. Goddaughter does about 12 hours of dancing a week, swam for the school and so on. It should be fine.
Just finished a HUGE pile of someone else's marking - phew and :j My life is my own again for a bit - well until the next batch and I do have to help the house recover from the several weeks of neglect it has suffered as a result. I found that making a batch of Twinks in the halogen helped - 15 minutes was perfect to mark a paper and then go and swap batches
Kidcat - be kind to you - glad you had a "day off" yesterday. When mum died some people were shocked that I didn't go rushing down to dad (200 miles away). But dad was well supported by my 4 siblings and I really felt that I needed to be there for my kids who had never experienced such a close death. Also, she was my mum but I am their mum and I wanted them to know I had no intentions of going anywhere for a while. My mum would have wholeheartedly approved.
RIght, quick kitchen tidy and off to work this PM. This is my late teaching day so I don't get home till after 8.
Have a good day allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Madeline's Mum, sorry I didn't see your post before I posted. I just wanted to say a heart murmur can be one of those things that comes and goes throughout life and it may well be because he is poorly. I had one as a child on a couple of occasions and again when I was pregnant. But my risk of a heart attack has been assessed as less than 2% (low blood pressure, low cholesterol). Try not to worry and see what the GP says when you take him back. It sounds as if you are strong and competent and know how to cope with DD's hypo so I hope this won't add too much worry to your loadIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0
