Puddles of fabric on the floor are very stylish fuddle ;-) and for a door curtain they act as a draught excluder!
I had a radiator moved, so made a blind for the window, and now the curtains only are looped back. Not ideal, but it stops the heat from the radiator being behind them and I don't have the skills to shorten them (crewel work, lined and interlined). Besides, I like the way they look long :-) A simple fabric blind is easy to make, and as I have wooden window frames, mine are held up by dowels supported by cup hooks. Where I can't use these, I use tension rods.
Re shortening curtains, VJs mum is right. But if you only want them to be shortened temporarily then just turn them up (the fabric inside the lining so it doesn't fade). The curtains I had in my kitchen till this summer were older than me and had been let up and down loads of times. I think they are now being made into cushions... One set of bedrooms came from my grandmother's bedroom, and are still going strong - the quality of the fabric is so much better than I could afford now!0 -
I have gorgeous aubergine chennile curtains downstairs....and 5 cats of varying colours. The curtains have more fur than the cats."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0

Lots more great ideas on the curtain front...and deciding whether to buy them gradually or delay until the Summer...I know a lot and yet still am learning about so much, it is so good to ask for help. my bedroom curtains are an @rgos cheap set made from chinelle ?sp? in black. they are far too long so drape over the carpet.
Maybe try @rg0s popperwell, especially in the clearance section. Next door are decorating before moving in, they have put a white plastic shower curtain up against the window. It is doing the job, so no one can peek in lol.

Lots of TV radio to catch up on...haven't decided if I should get a new license or watch on delay...but with a net offering unlimited access I don't mind watching on delay...but now that does mean that I can watch in real time...if I pay for the license...
I hate to judge people and refuse to play the game of guessing what social class someone belongs to but someone walking around Aldi's yesterday wore such a variety of mismatched clothes and accessories...but she was happy. Heck I'm not a fashion guru...but with trousers, shirt and/or coat its difficult to get it wrong...
Of course I am being a hypocrite posting this...
Well, someone I follow on Twitter is on her way home from sking in Austria...remember when I mentioned some teenagers wearing Onesies and they were playing on those thin metal scooters so many have these days and you had to tell me what they were...:p
Since then I have never seen anyone outside wearing them anywhere.
Well, this was taken on a ferry coming back to Dover earlier today...they even have tails:eek:

Now on the other hand if it is being done as a bet or a joke fine but is it becoming a fashion thing we are going to see more of?

Ha ha my DS had a friend over for a sleepover as it's his birthday last night, and the friend was wearing a onesie the same as the one on the right - he's 10 though and it was his night attire!
My whole house stinks now, as DD was making some porridge in the microwave and appears to have forgotten to put the milk in the bowl. It's scary how quickly the downstairs filled with choking smoke. We've had the front and back doors open for ages and it's freezing. Slightly disturbing that the smoke alarm in the living room didn't go off, but perhaps I opened the front door before it would have. DH tested it and it did ping, but a bit unsure now.0 -

I wouldn't stay inside wearing one. Especially as you have to take the whole thing off to go to the loo!I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Enjoying the curtain chat, as it's something I need to get on with soon! Dining room French windows have floor length lined curtains, less than 10 years old and ok, DS room ok, but all other windows and doors need attention. Front room curtains are the ones I made for a huge window at our last house (about 20 years ago!), shortened them for here, but they've had it now. I'll have to make some as the front room has a huge bay window - made to measures were £350 when I asked about 5 years ago, and can't get ready-mades.
Hope you're all coping with the rain now instead of the snow, including softstuff, we've rellies on the Gold Coast, but don't know how their weather is.
fuddle, glad to see you back online, but will also miss Timothy!Have PM'd you on facebook, hun.
Hugs to you all, have missed you over the last week!
