    Katie,
Talking of that blog. And the other information 7WW gave, that is one of the reasons I like Nigel Slater so many of his recipes are simple, reasonably cheap and he does use a lot of left overs in his fridge so little is wasted. He also looks at what he has and says "what can I do with this?"

  • Well I've just made the butterbean humous from that blog (I had the oven on anyway - so used the opportunity to roast some garlic) and it is rather scrummy!

I forgot one funny comment at work last week. Like most folk on here, I always take my own lunch in to work, mainly because I refuse to pay silly money for a pre-packed sandwich and some crisps. I usually take a loaf of HM bread in on a Monday, and each day take some soup and some humous or whatever. I wondered whether folk looked down on me because I didn't have an innocent pot or some such, but then last week someone said "Ooh - your gourmet lunches always look so yummy!" So there you go - OS and gourmet: whatever next!

And today's discovery was that I can use previously frozen yoghurt as a starter for my yoghurt. So I can buy a big pot of yoghurt, use a little bit for a starter, freeze the rest in small portions and then use it whenever my yoghurt needs a boost - result! and a few more pennies saved.

A lovely afternoon with MIL although we've found out that in 14 weeks she will lose her part time job. :(

She has given me her collection of knitting needles as her arthritis is too bad to knit now. There's lots of bizarre looking metal in there but you know what that means don't ya? New skills to be learned. I have a crochet scarf to finish first though.

We got out the wartime records of DH's grandad. He was a prisoner of war. Fascinating stuff. What was surreal was that although the military records were blank during that time, the gaps were filled in by letters and postcards that he was allowed to send home while being POW.

Checked deposit scheme and it says 'in dispute awaiting landlord evidence. He is now late. I will call tomorrow for advice on what will happen.

Had a crisp sandwich for tea. They're tasty. Initially I was sat there thinking 'this is a frugal meal' till it dawned on me that my filling probably cost more than a slice of ham!

I have decided that I the school is open tomorrow we will go but after rush hour traffic and everyone has dispersed. We will be late but my confidence is too low to drive amongst the yummy mummy race for a parking pace in snow and ice. Throw me in the deep end why don't you lol

Off for a bubble bath then try to get on Attic24 and absorb in crochet blogliness. I haven't been on there since beginning of December.

Well Fuddle, I still have a packet of crisps and wish when I visited B&M yesterday I'd bought more...out of date(slightly)but they are fine. Walkers Cheddar cheese and bacon, 6 pkts for 69p. Not too bad as an odd treat;)

I'm glad I have my vitamins(sea kelp and ginger)but I'll go careful as they can work against some meds and can cause slow blood clotting and kelp is rich in iron. Common sence approach etc...They'll last me ages.

7WW, Its hard to believe when I worked how often we'd all pop across to another shop and buy sandwiches or a portion of chips. Of course it kept them in a job but what were we spending?:eek:Wouldn't do it now!

Hello toughies. I've been missing in action due to starting new job. I'm having a bit of a time adjusting and am so tired .... we only get a 40-minute break for lunch and by the time I've bombed back home on my bike to let the dogs out it's time to go back. Then a 20-minute break in the afternoon. I am suffering from severe tea deprivation! On the plus side, I am on my feet most of the day so am hoping to lose some weight!

I haven't been posting but have been reading and trying to catch up with you all. We have no snow in this part of Manchester but it is very cold. I'm hoping we miss it all because it would make lunchtimes almost impossible!

We had a gentleman in the gallery yesterday who started taking all his clothes off and dancing around. I wasn't in that particular space so thankfully I wasn't the one who had to deal with it (so it wasn't me who attracted him this time!). I'm sure there'll be other funny tales before too long!

    Take care everyone xxxx.

    Been thinking about you SmileyT,
Good to see you are missing for good reasons. As for the guy who stripped off:eek:

As long as it was not violent. It's a worry, even I would feel a bit vulnerable in my old retail job these days...

    xx

Does anyone know an OS way of getting red wine off computer screens as I appear to have snorted the remains of a glass everywhere:rotfl:

Well, I assume that liquid or wipes for cleaning screens is needed...I bet someone has better idea;)

Thinking back to my shopping trip...I got a variety pack of kellogg's cereal for £1. Tesco's had a similar one today/same price but I preferred the selection at Poundland. Made for a different market I suspect by the writing on it.

No heating on but I feel warmer and cosy. I wonder why?
