Me too, going back to the 1830 one half of my family were miners and the other side trawlermen - both dangerous jobs. My mum was hard but my granny was worse, I've had mediums scared stiff when she came through for me0

Though I question if there is anything beyond our Earthly existence, I then remember instances that cannot be explained and that quote "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.""A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Thanks thriftynifty, now downloaded the book. Will have a look when my brain is working.
Have spent the weekend cooking so I wont have to for ages...hopefully... 6 portions of spag bol and chilli. Potato has for 5, mince and onions for pies and a little bowl of chilli that wouldnt fit in a box for chilli pies for DS's lunch. The ham is cooked and sliced which we had for tea and enough for lunches plus saved the juice to add tinned mushy peas for Oh and me for lunches - 2 meals. I had to stuff the oven when I finished the ham off in there with mustard and brown sugar crust so did roasties for tea and chocloate buns from a cake mix mum gave me. think that should keep the wolf from the door. Told DS the ham gift was inspired and he said 'well I bought you flowers last year so though I would get something useful' lol
So now am sitting with a coffee and intend not to move again.Clearing the junk to travel light

When you download the software on your laptop and you log into your Amazon account all the books you've downloaded will be there waiting for youOriginally I used kindle on my PC, now I have a laptop I downloaded the software and hey presto, all my books were there! So it'll be fine pops

I come from a long line of battleaxes and I like the term myself  I'm not as tough as my ancestors though, by any means. They had it really tough, I remember my grandma's tales of how they coped with monthlies  And my nana was famous for her wartime meat and potato pie (you were lucky if you ever found any meat in it apparently
)
My cat hates fireworks, she's like Docky - she squeezes into the gap between the back of the armchair and the wall and comes out crawling on her belly hours later for a reassuring cuddle. It's the same with thunderstorms. I've always had cats or dogs and she's the first one to react this badly - she was a stray though, and I think she had some tough times of her own before she landed in my garden.
My little yorkie Rosie use to hate fireworks really scared, but the last couple of years since becoming deaf she can no longer hear them....
im so glad for her cos I dont think she would get through bonfire night if she could hear it , she is fragile after her stroke 2 weeks ago..........
Trouble is fireworks go off a week before the 5 th and a week after..........0 -

Oh how I wish fireworks were just one night . My neighbours complain when my dogs bark - I have 6 so it can be quite difficult keeping them quiet .
For the last 3 nights fireworks bang setting off female chihuahua which sets off lurcher then great Dane then they all have a go . First firework is 7 and so far every night last has been 11 !! Have managed to stop the crashendo ( spelling wrong I know but you can tell what I mean) tonight so far but now on tender hooks which I think makes them worse - will be SOOOOOOoooo glad when it's over
Here they use them at New Year too
Seems to be more this year as there is no organised display .Date restarted DFW 30/04/16

One of my DD's is Christian, the other is atheist, DS1 is Jedi & DS2 is agnostic, we have some interesting chats but never fall out.I'm technically COE but registered my displeasure at the baptism by screaming my head off. Took great exception to religion from a very young age and walk on the paganish side of the street. I'm a Jedi for the Census and was thrilled to bits when a younger second cousin took up Druidry very seriously.
HH, I hope you won't take this cheekily but I've noticed that you read the Jim Butcher books from those listed on your blog and I've just found a new-to-me author this weekend, name of Kevin Hearne, whose books are described as "American Gods meets Jim Butcher's Harry Dresden"
I'm coming towards the end of "Hexed" and the other two of the series better well be in the library or there'll be trouble. Great fun. **Just ordered the other 4 online from the library. Someone has decided to spread the set across the entire county but I shall get them sent to Provincial City for a whiley.**MrsLurcherwalker wrote: »You are speaking sweet music to my ears, Oh yes, no home fireworks and only organised displays on designated days would be the best solution possible. The selfish whatnames down here not only start in October but will probably go on sporadically until after New Year. They start letting the blooming things off in the evening as soon as it gets dark and it's not unusual for them to still be going off at midnight, I HATE IT ALL!!!! Mainly for the upset pets but some for the waste of money too, Cheers Lyn xxx. Here, here. I wish I could scrub from my mind some of the stories of torture inflicted on both domestic and wild animals by vile humans armed with fireworks, as told to me by a PDSA animal nurse. Chilling.
Far better to have the mega displays and not have imbeciles lettting them off for about 2 months.
Last year a psycho druggie neighbour was heard to threaten to put a lit firework thru SuperGran's letter box and the local police took it so seriously that the mounted guard on her home overnight; he's an evil burger and fully-capabable of it.I have just taken out my very first banana bread loaves ever, in the whole wide world, from the oven. My little flat smells so lush. Then I brought the oven up from Gas 4 to 7 and now have the bread rolls I made earlier today proving.
My old mucker the Magic Greengrocer did me proud on Friday afternoon; 14 bananas, 4 large oranges, a head of celery, a crown of broccoli, half a large punnet cherry toms and a yellow pepper. For A POUND! So pleased.
Going to cook a big chilli tomorrow with some of the celery and the pepper, plus anpother pepper lurking on the premises, two cans of my fabled Tinned Tomato Mountain and various other bits and bobs. Living well.
The banana breads were made with butter from the freezer which I stashed back in May when I got Anchor at 45p a pkt as it was right up on date. Going to be eating well this week.Just done October's accounts and the grocery spend, inc some storecupboardy things, was a mahoosive £49.65 for not-so-little me. Could've been lower if I'd tried but I was just working the YS as per usual.
All righty, just going off to admire the banana breads.........Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Oh and I realised I'm preaching when I said about the dog food . I have several extra large tins of chappie that I can't feed mine ( gives them the runs) . Going to donate them to my local dogs trust as I'm sure they could use them . Will also mean that will be a cupboard decluttered YEYDate restarted DFW 30/04/16
