Love that tree Fuddle! I feed the birds too, I invested in a sack of Nyger seeds and have a colony of goldfinches that feed every day, winter and summer! I put bird cakes out too, I buy the big tub of 50 at poundstretcher, but really must look into making my own. Do you have a recipe (sorry if I missed it in earlier posts)?

14 hours at work!! today is only 10 and tomorrow is another 14. Workingtime directive, doesnt come into where i work. It is broken nearly everyday. Safety is put at risk, but those that be above dont care - this another reason why im leaving.

Went into the next town on friday to meet DD from work, went into local coop for a cup of t and a natter. OH dad, thier grandad was there. He never soke, hasnt for nearly 8 years to us! and just walked away. I think their nan was in the shop somewhere, but she only speaks when it suits or she requires OH to give some money. Where DD works, she has her hair done so its all thats my grand daughter - just ashame its all show towards other people. Why are some people like that??

I have never worked for a decent employer yet and for all the rules in place I think best part of the working population(not all I know)are taken advantage of in some way...often unofficially they will have you giving extra time, sometimes without any extra time off in leiu or by renumeration, it has been said many times if all the extra time people give was added up and had to be paid for the difference to pay packets would be considerable...

Why are people like that? I'll never know...life is far too short for misery caused by families...I hate being alone but at least I don't have any of the stress as you mention, just myself to please...

no recipe I just use melted lard, bacon rind, bread (only if it's going to be eaten in a week or it goes mouldy), raisins, and panuts or seeds you have spare them.

    grated cheese too apparently http://www.rspb.org.uk/youth/makeanddo/activities/birdcake.aspx
  • AARGH, just lost a post, here goes again:
Just got back from a walk to Al*i, OMG it was HEAVING. Only went in for onions and bread but also got a fabled 4 bird roast (Thanks to all who posted, I read them when I got back :o) Have crammed it into the freezer but at least I can now cast the illusion of being kinda organised. :D
The walk there and back (about 1/2 mile) though has shattered me. My back and hips are aching and I just want to curl up and sleep again. :(
Fuddle. I'm another one, christened COE but definately non practising. A few years ago I researched and quite got into Wicca. Although I never practised a lot of things like celebrating the changing seasons and using not abusing the earths resources make a lot of sense to me and I suppose I have absorbed bits of that into my lifestyle.

What a lovely thread ! Love and hugs to all those who need it today :)

Not been on the forums for ages, been so busy with DD1 starting at Uni and DH being made redundant (after 22 yrs !). Got a temporary job with an agency now, will keep the wolf from the door at least (it would have to jockey for position with the chickens and the cat, anyway :rotfl:).

Trying to be a bit more focused about planning meals for the week - definitely find that helps, making sure I work the leftovers in so we get a 'free' meal, so to speak, and avoid wasting otherwise good food. Got a good book from the library yesterday - 'Cook on a shoestring' by Sophie Wright. Some sound ideas and really nice recipes using leftovers and storecupboard items. Will be making a note of a few of these :T

Chin (or chins, in my case) up - it will get better.

DS's room is DONE! :T I thought upstairs would take an hour or so and THREE HOURS later I can do something else. Will someone please give me some more hours in my day.

It wasn't that bad but I went through all his drawers looking for clothes that are too small - only found about 4 items. Cleared off his toy and book shelves and a set of small drawers he puts "stuff" in - managed to empty one of them, with stuff goingto the bottom of the wheely bin so he or OH doesn't see it.

Made some inroads into DDs room but it is a nightmare of the first order (or Hoarder! :rotfl:) anyway that is probably for one of the other threads.

So, I now have one dissertation to mark and my work for Korea to get started. Thank goodness for the freezer as I am having a roast dinner plated up from leftovers last weekend and DD is having salmon. No time no time - oh my ears and whiskers.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

I am worried I have offended some people's religious beliefs. Please don't be offended. I'm just typing some realisations I'm having for me. I think when people go through a tough time they look for something to cling on to and I suspect that's what I'm doing.

    Makes sense to me :)

Hi Lindab - I'm sure this thread will give you great pleasure! I love reading it. There's always something to learn and everyone is very caring. A real pleasure thread.
Am off to meditate with a candle, some stones and a bit of greenery. Been inspired to do it immediately from some of your posts rather than do it in the morning or another more 'usual' time for me.Loving the bringing the outside in at this time. Love this time of year.
