It's very glib innit? Although at same time you don't need to be sitting inside a church to think spiritual thoughts.. I think xmas now must break genuine churchpeople's hearts in some ways. It annoys the hell out of me and I'm not even a christian - all that grabbing and greed, would turn anybody's stomach.
But on the other hand, the sky is clear pink & blue and the sun will pop over the hill soon and the wee robin is sitting on the coalhouse waiting for his biscuit :D
I agree mardatha - Christmas is so commercial these days, I wonder if anyone remembers what it is about any more :(
Having said that - everyone who wants to can do something about it!
We went to a Christmas concert this afternoon - DD was singing in the choir and I enjoyed every minute of it :D
I've been looking at foodbanks and reading up about them. The Trussell Trust is a charity with foodbanks all over the country, and it looks like they do amazing work helping people in need.

I love beautiful sunrises/sunsets too mardatha. They remind you of your place in the universe, I think. :)

Jpscloud - I've been enjoying the cheesy films on channel5 as well. No bad language and everything works out right in the end!

Oh goodness, the sky has just gone pitch black and the rain is falling as snow.
Well it had better slow down because I have the spare room to 'do' and an ironing mountain to tackle before I can nip out to the shops. (I have to do it in that order to motivate myself into doing them. :o) Also out to lunch (in more ways than one!) for DD's birthday lunch and trailing to docs this afternoon. I do not want the white stuff interfering today! It can come back tomorrow when I am baking and not running around like a ...well...fly! :rotfl:

  • Gooood morninggg!!!!!! Feeling perky today despite remains of a cold. :j I'm glad I was sensible yesterday and stayed home. Lovely clear winter's morn and I was in the right mood to "breathe it all in" on way back from school run.

Chest freezer de-icing as I type. Doesn't look too bad actually so shouldn't take too long and then I can get re-stocking probably on Weds. :j Have zillions of plastic tubs in assorted shapes and sizes squashed in every available kitchen space as used so much freezer stuff up. Saved a fair bit on food shopping lately because of it so this will ease the purse strings to buy some Xmas treats. All good stuff.

Washing on too. Hoping to pop out later (if freezer does its thang quickly) to post some cards/parcels and get essential fresh food bits in. Actually need to post some bits today so otherwise will have to take boys with me after school to post office.

Hope everyone is doing ok. been quiet on here lately - guess lots of people are being busy bees with one thing or another (or if kidcat - a big list of things!)

washing nearly finished so must depart.... parting is such sweet sorrow... I am in a funny mood today I warn you!

Plans scuppered, OH got up and promptly fell asleep on the couch, so will have to get on with stuff at home today. Theres nothing crucial as I dont 'do' crucial at Christmas. DD and DGS both got a guide dog for the blind subscription thingy for their main pressies. We always buy bits and bobs and hamper type gifts that I buy through the year. The rest are made by me.

I cannot fathom why the tv ads make out you cannot have the 'perfect Christmas' without a huge turkey, fancy chocolates etc - its absolute rubbish and really makes me mad. DD's friends who have children are running round like headless chickens buying all those 'must have toys' and spending money they havent got while Dd is calmly going to work and concentrating on the little man who gave her the best gift(and the only one she wanted) he now asks for his Mummy :j

Aw that's lovely Ginnyknit. That's what Christmas is about, that little glow inside yourself that means far more than the latest gadget or must have. I do think a lot of parents try to compensate for the lack of time they give their children because of work commitments by buying everything they ask for. The specialness of that one longed for gift is no more, it's all more, more these days.
Don't get me wrong, I was a child who sat with her Mam's catalogue and picked a present off every page on the run up to Christmas. But I was also aware we didn't have a lot of money and I would get what my parents could afford. It didn't matter to me, the whole fantasy of choosing everything was magical enough. :)

    Hello all,
Firstly can i apologise for my appalling spelling, grammar etc i'm full up with my painkillers and i've lost my glasses. So when i'm reading its quite blurry and the painkillers are stopping my brain from working properly.

Well i've calmed down now after all the agro on saturday with ds2 and his mates. They parents know exactly what they like and they don't seem to care. One of the children is actually really nice and i think the other boy might have threatened him. The nice boy's mother died about 6 weeks ago and no one the nasty boy said to him if you don't i won't be your friends. The nasty boy has done this a few times to ds2.

Well we bit the bullet and forked out £20 for a wheelchair, i've got it till January. Me and my OH had a argument about it and in the end i said right well were going to get as i'm sick and want to be able to go out on saturday.

Oh and beware this disgusting, took a trip to boots today and got some duclipease to help soften me up.Yes i know TMI, the blumming cocodomol is making constipated and i'm in agony.

Well done with the de-cluttering pops.

Oh and fuddle is doing well, they almost ready to move and are looking forward to the new house.

mar i love sunsets and we get some great ones here in boro, burnt orange skies and purple streaks, amazing.

    Well done kezlou,
I can't get another thing in the Wheelie Bins...So what remains is nearly all in the passage now alongside the house and I am virtually clutter free indoors.

Don't feel so good today so simple food is on the cards(it is most days)My knees are giving me problems so perhaps I may end up needing a wheelchair or that mobility scooter yet. Then again they may settle down again.

Painkillers certainly but as many know next year I will be having a hospital trip because I have a very bad hernia:(:otoo much information. I believe caused by the original water retentions problems. Not looking forward to that!

Still have my forms to fill in regarding the changes to my benefits and possible medical:(but I'll worry about that next week. Still waiting on medical evidence from my Dr.

Found two old £20 notes so I am away to see if the bank will change them for new:)nice surprise will pay for some bus tickets to the concert on Saturday and the memorial service tomorrow night!

Housing Association isn't worried about coming now. Know what they wanted to do? Check how many bedrooms there are(they know)but they have to measure them, why I have no idea...

Hi everyone, we have sleeting/rain here ad it bitterly cold.

Everyone seems to be getting very organised, well done pops!

Yesterday we have a lovely day out, we went to lincoln to walk around the christmas market - we only bought a drink from the charity stall!! It was nice to be all festive, tried numerous cheeses and OH tried some alcoholic stuff. Was just nice to have our 2 girls with us, and having time to talk. Afterwards we ended up in morris0ns for something to eat, it was far too dear around the marker £4.50 for a burger.

Today I have taken my mum and both girls to get the final few odds and ends. We bought a wreath for our nan/grnadad grave and i bought a plant for my dads grave. It all quite somber here, you think of who has passed. Im sure my dad is smiling down at us, and is very proud of how they have turned out - me being a teenage mum (he was very ashamed at the time). I have always worked so I dont thin i tuened out too bad either - i forget about the BR - but that was because of the house repossession.

I suppose I should get a wriggle on and start tidying up and start prepareing tea. Take care x

    Thank you NuttyP,
Can I just say when I say I felt "Not so good!" It was not because of feeling down. Just felt a bit out of sorts, I had a snooze, some ham, pease pudding and tomato sandwiches and seem ok again...

That sounds a lovely day in Lincoln at the Christmas Market, I haven't heard of any around here though.

Pops it will be interesting to see if they change your notes, there was a huge bank robbery here a few years back, so they took all the notes out of circulation and you only had so long to change them (it was a n.ireland bank so i guess it was easier to do)

I have a sickly boy :( and because he had us up in the night we all slept in, so i have all 3 boys at home, it's nippy so i'm just putting the fire on.

We had chinese last night because i found £10 in my tuble drier, it really confused me, i'd know if i was missing £10 and hubby can't remeber anyone paying him £10 that he didn't give to me and the only thing in the drier was the childs sicky bedding and he def didn't have a tenner, so we seen it as a treat bonus and spent it :) it was very nice i'm about to have the rest now (i havnet had lunch yet i lost track of time cleaning)

Have sorted out a box of toys i'm selling to a friend, so won't pay me for them until after xmas, but they will be her kids xmas pressies, she's having a roung time and it's just toys they don't play with so i don't mind waiting for the money.
