My washing machine is crackling/fizzy/i.e making a very strange noise  It has finally co-operated and let DH hear it, so it looks like tomorrow is taking the washing machine to bits day. Who wants to bet that he gets called out when it is in pieces all over the kitchen?

My bet is two tins of Cross and Blackwell beans, a bag of yellow split peas and some YS chicken thighs that he does. Anyone want to raise?

I'll raise you three tins of tomato and basil soup, some red lentil and two packs of Quorn mince!

Can't remember whose dad did the Penquins at 91 but that is a lovely Nativity to keep (and I don't do Christmas so me saying that is something :D)

Need "Toughie" hugs please, waiting to see a Neuorologist (sp), they think I have the onset of MS :( (appointment is the end of January)

Possession, when we go away we leave lights on and we purposely choose lights at the back of the house so that anyone watching the house can't tell that the room with the light is empty. If it's a low energy lightbulb it probably doesn't cost that much to leave it on
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

:D Ginny the way prices are going, soon only folk like dentists will be able to afford bikes!
Many many years ago before it was "done", Jenners in Edinburgh one xmas had a black tree in every window, decorated in either navy blue or deep violet. I fell totally in love with those trees although I've never had one. The RV says it reminds him of funerals but I think they're totally gorgeous. A bit common now and going out of fashion but not for me cos I never got one! This year we aren't going to bother cos neither of us have the energy to care :D
Decided to snip my roots to this recliner and go up to Edinburgh tonight on the bus to see the xmas lights & meet eldest son. Hoping the RV or the son will get me chips. Ahh the high life eh!

It's beginning to smell a lot like christmas... My puds are on to steam!

Went to the optician for a contact lens check up first thing, and she's spotted signs of high cholesterol so I'm to see the GP  I don't think I eat much crap, but then again I must do, or I'd not be overweight.

DD's BF came round to pick up DS this morning, as they've a job to do together today. My heart is breaking for this young lad, as DD hasn't treated him as she should. I'm at a complete loss as to what to say to him, as he's no option but to stay put, as he's nowhere to go, and no 'real' job. I'm so fond of him, we've lived with him for two stretches now, so I really know him well, and he's not a mean bone in his body. I know none of us sees what goes on 'behind closed doors' in any relationship, but he says he's got no-one to unload on, and he doesn't want to 'unload' on me or her sister as we are too close :( I hope he doesn't try to offload on to DS as I've not said anything to him, and he'll not be happy either. The BF is his best friend. What a mess.

Anyway...while my puddings are steaming away, I've a ton of housework to do. I've got to make up the B&B for my friend who's coming tomorrow. We are having village 'girls' Xmas night out...and my friend is tagging along, she'll stay over. The 'girls' can party quite hard...hope I'm up to the challenge. Early night for me I think!

7WW - what a beautiful tale about your dear dad - what a wonderful, thoughtful and talented father.

Big hugs going out to SDG and the Dragon.

Today is the first day I've felt properly cold and had to scrape ice off the car. DH & I had dentist appointments after school run. Dentist is good but you feel like you've done a round with Mike Tyson after! My teeth have been thoroughly cleaned but DH refused a scale and polish - why?? your teeth are cleaner, look better and costs no more under NHS. He's a strange one!

We don't put our tree up until a week, two at most before Christmas. I like Christmas for a few days but not for any longer really otherwise I feel Christmased out by the big day! Have to do stuff for/with kids though. I have filled their wooden advent calender with little choc balls today. My sister bought it for them a few years ago so its become a lovely tradition. Each drawer has a tiny (inch sized) wooden decoration to hang on pegs on the calender. I had to buy 2 bags for chocs (L*dl) as one isn't enough ..... but fortunately 2 bags worth are too many.... guess what I'm chomping on right now :rotfl:

Back to trees - DH insists on a real one and I haven't the heart to protest much as he rarely asks for anything moneywise. I do cringe at the price and would prefer an artificial mainly for the cost but I don't think my allergies like it either. Its his job to go with the boys to buy it and he always buys one too big for our low ceilings!

I haven't achieved much this morning, DH is on leave studying and I cba! Will get some food shoping after lunch so at least won't have to do that at weekend.

better go, onwards and upwards fellow toughies
    sq:)
