Can you train my OH for me please???
I started baking at 7 years old, learning from Mum and Gran, so about 10 years of training and another 30 of practise. Herself rarely cooks, but its probably even rarer that I dust, hoover or iron, so you may not want me training your OH0 -
D&DD wrote:ooh speaking of wedges Nuatha I meant to add sweet potato wedges I'm getting seriously addicted to them instead of normal potatoes..
Tescos had them on offer so I stocked up,par boiled them as wedges then rolled them in chilliflakes and oil, salt and pepper then froze in batches. They cook in around 20 mins from frozen so perfect for a quick tea
Thank you for that, I shall be giving them a try.0 -
Hi ga
Your post had me thinking. if it is OK I would like to ask some DFW questions and what would happen if SHTF?
I am not suggesting you reply on here, but that you and OH have a serious talk and put together a budgetgood_advice wrote: »Now there is 3 full time working adults and little old me on a very part time job.I have very little money but a little savings.
I have asked all to help pay the bill.
Adult child 1 gave me £5 in 20p's I could count out and have...
Adult child 2 have given my £10 as overpaid for something owed to me and I said the extra was going towards the bill.
Both adult kids give £100 house keeping a month to oh
Oh says he will have to pay another bill... but I feel he is paying most of the household bills.
3 adults and little old me? Are you not a fully fledged adult too?
Is there a reason what you have not gone into full-time employment, or sought it since the children were old enough to look after themselves? or have you lost work?
You have an annual bill to pay. You have very little money and OH does not appear to have any money. This suggest that between you, you have very little financial security and do not have a budgetting account.
What would happen if:
1. Your OH lost his job? or his company went bust?
2. He became seriously ill?
3. He ran off with someone else?
4. You were seriously ill?
How would you survive financially?
If you read Martin's books, he talks about going out with a friend who was totally skint because she had spent money she did not have over Christmas and was in dire straits in January and February. At he point s out, Christmas comes at the same time every year, so if she had put aside one twelth of her expected spends each month, she could ahve covered the cost easily.
You need to list all of the following annual costs
Council Tax
Water rates
gas, electric, coal, wood etc
All insurances
All other costs associated with any cars you run - tax, maintenance, MOT
TV licence
Internet etc
Christmas
Birthday presents
Holidays
House maintenance
The cost of replacing one item of white goods per year
Divide by 12 and put that amount into the budget account each month. That should ensure that when you have bills to pay, the money is available.
You may also want to look for more work (I know this is hard) and to put enough away between you to cover at leasst 3 months living costs as a cushion.
In the short-term I would make monthly paysments on the insurance and speak to your OH about charging the young adults in your house a realistic amount to cover the costs of their living with you.
And stop doing their washing. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Just saying hello and feeling very much for people that have to watch their heating this Winter. I switched mine off early last night and realised that I could not do that anymore. Glares from a cat did not help and she took herself off to lie under my duvet. This was from contacting my gas supplier and from having a nice cushion last winter going to just having enough so upped the payment. I live and work rural and bought a newer car last week. Old one was much too expensive to put through the MOT. I now have car payments for the first time in 5 years. Looking back on threads to save money. Just cancelled sky movies so that is one thing. Thanks to you all for tips.0

no i dont:( .
Ok, this will be messy but it works. Open up a magazine, carefully take the staples out but keep the magazine together. Do you have a clothes horse? Sit down and put the clothes horse in front of you. Take the magazine open at the center page and peg it to the clothes horse. Put a large bag at your feet (stops it going everywhere). Take a large pair of scissors and start cutting a fringe into the magazine. Go up until maybe an inch off the top edge. No need to measure width of fringes, keep them narrow. if you make a mistake it doesn't matter. Repeat all along magazine. Once you have the finging cut the snip along the top. Once this is done you should be left with an inch wide border still pegged to the clothes horse which you can unpeg and snip by hand (much easier than doing the whole thing freehand.
You now have a bag of hamper filling at your feet. Use your hands to spearate the paper and scrunch it up a bit.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0 -
Morning toughies!!!! What a lot to catch up with. Had a rather boring day at work yesterday, with all the flooding some of the race tracks are closed until next year. It seams some days are going to be very quiet for the forseable future.
Have had a nice time so far this morning, my daughter had a cancelation at work so i appeared like magic and had my nails done for a treat. Im lucky as i only paya nominal fee. This is my one treat for the month. I am now the proud owner of burgunday nails with a gold glitter overlay, it sounds better than my description, honest!!
Have bought the mirror newspaper today as there is a £5 off a £35 spend, but there are also % discount vouchers too. Will be doing a joint trip with my mum there. The voucher needs to be used by dec 6 next thursday if that helps anyone.
Well i need to prepare tea for hubby and DD, it will be a slowcooker production. WIth lots of nice gravy!!!
Have a safe and healthy day everyone. x Keep the heating on as were due for a freeze this evening :-(BSC member 137

We've already got a freeze here! Had it for days and I'm finished with it now, I'll send it down
I'm another one doing hampers and I was looking for shred too but its all coloured paper and dear. I haven't got a shredder or any glossy mags or even a newspaper - just having to pack in more items. I started off with a wartime "comfort box" theme and its sort of wandered into a food hamper but with basics not posh things. I'm doing lentils barley and stock cubes; teabags drinking choc and sugar; biscuits oatcakes and cookies: might get bread mixes butter and jam. Along with knitted stuff liek socks and slippers, gloves and scarves. Oh and one DIL got a soup pot cos she hasnt got one and has no money to get one.
