I have just finished doing tea, and other half has rang to say he will be home late. Its my last day off for the next 7 days. Thought he would be home earlier as we never seem to see each other these days - ships that pass in the night springs to mind -he's gone to help one of the other men out. He is quite a bit older than him and he calls him pirate pop's!! Its nice that he cares.
Have jsut got a nice bargain from flebay today, its a ted baker watch for DD for christmas. I hope my dd likes it - its been worn twice according to the listing. Cant afford new as they are around £100, but i have got this one for less than £10.BSC member 137

7ww, was it you who was heading up north today? hope the journey was ok and the funeral went well x
The funeral I was at yesterday was lovely (if they can ever be described as that) one of his rugby buddies read a eulogy(?) and had us all laughing/crying/laughing. when we stood up to leave at the end i realised what a popular man he was. not everyone could get into the crem and people were waiting in the foyer and even outside waiting to pay their respects. I hope as many people will remember me when it's my turn.
fuddle, glad your girls are feeling better. we have to have them off for 48 hrs after the last 'episode'.
i'm off to bed as soon as i've got the girls settled tonight. i've had the mother of all headaches all day and it's threatening to turn into a migraine, not had one of those for years! hopefully a warm bath, early night and hwb will see it offfreecycler and skip diver extraordinnaire:cool:0 -
Hi.
I can sense that you are all getting into the swing of Christmas. Because this year is different (the Rev's op.) I am quite looking forward to it too. I've just got a few of the Rev's appointments to fill for her - a couple of services to arrange and The Wives carol service to take, (they used to be called 'Young Wives', but with the passing of time they are now just Wives.)
I LOVE making mince pies. Traditionally I make them on Christmas Eve when everything is done and ready. I shut myself in the kitchen on my own and listen to the Nine Lessons and Carols from King's College on the radio while I make the mince pies. Magic.
LutherSer: You don't know what you are doing, mentioning scones to this lot. Picture everyone staring at their screens with pleading eyes and hands held out hopefully. Welcome, by the way.
nuttyp: I bet you could get quite an effect if you just pop out occasionally with a camera when your neighbour is out and about. Or just take photographs aimed in his direction, that should put the wind up him. I don't think that is against the law, or if it is,(and someone on here will know) you don't actually have to take a picture at all, just aim the camera.
Our neighbours are hilarious. When I 'landscaped' our garden he muttered and moaned and had a load of gravel delivered. When I enquired what he intended to do with it he announced that he was going to re-model HIS garden. According to his description he was going to outdo Versailles. He acquired a blank Planning Consent form, filled it in and fixed it to his gate. You'd have thought Alton Towers was coming to this small back garden. It amused the passers-by. In the event it was just gravelled, fenced and tidied up. For Christmas we gave them something to 'add a little style'. A hideous statue of a meerkat. That Christmas evening we investigated the sudden appearance of lights floating in mid air. The Rev came back in in hysterics, "It's that b****y meerkat" she screeched. True enough they had erected the meerkat on a post, staring in at our dining room window and decorated it with flashing fairy lights.
That's the sort of neighbours to have.

Ooh, you are beginning to make me feel Christmassy. I'm planning to send DH in the loft tomorrow to get the decs down to sort out and have wangled Xmas Eve off work, so after collecting meat and veg orders that day, plan to stay in the kitchen and make mince pies.Spend less now, work less later.0

I love it monnagran! It's been a long time since we've played practical jokes like that.
My Christmas album of choice is A Perry Como Christmas. My grandma had it on a record and I played the hind legs off it when I was a little. I'm in the process of downloading the songs from itunes.
We have had a mice visiting. It's nibble DD's thick winter hat. All darned up and looking [STRIKE]like new[/STRIKE] better.
Hi jazeeI normally have mine up on the first of Dec but have to wait till 16th now (or the night of the 15th

Just seen this on the UK stormchaser forum...it seems quite a few of the amateur forecasters think the high winds and rain are going to return next week after the frost and fog...
In Summary this morning's output has come together in their prognosis for next week. The rest of this week will be rather cold but benign away from Northern and Eastern coastal counties where some wintry showers could occur. The South and west will be dry with frost and freezing fog for a while over the weekend. It now looks like an attack from the Atlantic is guaranteed next week as the cold feed is cut off with a spell of rain, preceded by snow on hills moving across from the west early next week. Thereafter it looks like the best hope for coldies is cold zonality and brief Northerlies on the back of passing depressions. It's also not godd news for those wanting drier conditions in recently flooded areas as it looks like the return of some pretty wet weather for all again next week.

Monnagran i loved your description of the meercat! My brother would love it too so its a shame i dont drive or live closer to him as i would definately be doing that to him! I wonder which of my cousins i can talk into doing it for me?
Mince pies.....mmmmmm.......one year i made 300 of the s**ding things! I do love them though and i am the only one in hte family who will make them. I dont make them for the family anymore though as i couldnt afford the ingredients for so many plus i never ever got a single tupperware container back. They did say thank you so thats something i suppose. My rule the last few years has been if you want some, send over a container for me to fill for you. Amazingly, they never have:o.0 -

I usually make upwards of 200 mince pies, although last year managed almost none, being so ill close to Christmas meant my plans were vastly reduced. Will be rooting out softstuff mince meat recipe soon though and get started freezing some.0
