Mine is because I was a juggler and stiltwalker in my teens - I used to do profesional gigs whilst still at school, I have an interesting CV!!! Very nearly ran away to join the circus at 18 and those who know me in RL still look slightly worriedly at me when I threaten it (jokingly) even now just in case I really do! Bit past it for all that now though, it is very definately a youngsters profession and even though I'm still in my mid 30's I don't think I could keep up with the physicality of any more than the occasional play.
Interesting to hear where names come from - thanks. X0 -
LOL Cranky I'm already feeling a bit sorry for your hamster!0

When I first signed up to MSE I was on a planned 7 week gap between jobs. In those 7 weeks I was going to get on top of the house work, declutter the place, do lots of home baking and single-handedly organize world peace! Needless to say I achieved all of them - ahem:o
That was over 5 years ago and I've been mostly lurking ever since.
Lisakay - go for it with your personal trainer friend. Sounds great (if a little painful!)
Oh and I am a chuffed bunny this evening. I have just crocheted for the first time in over 30 years (eek) and have managed to do one of the lovely fingerless mitts recommended on here. TBH I'll probably take it apart and do it again, but I'm still pleased I could remember as much as I did.0 -

Don't....she doesn't seem a bit bothered by them. She has a big cage with tubes that stick out of the top and she sits in the tube nose to nose with the pests. I was cuddling the hamster the week before last and when I looked down one of the cats had climbed into the cage through the open door (normal hamster cage sized door) and was sitting with paws crossed waiting for me to pop the hamster back inside. That was a tricky one....removing half a stone of cat from a hamster cage while holding a hamster in one hand :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Hi all.
Wow you lot jabber on! :-)
Thank you so much for all the lovely thoughts and advice you have given. So lovely!
Thank you!
Soooo
We have spent the weekend in shock.
We got mad, shouted, cursed and swore...
We cried.... I took lots of walks with the dog at night, just so that I could have a good quiet sob..
We talked a lot.
And we decided, that it is what it is. No matter how we take this, it is still what it is. So there is no point in spending more energy and time in being depressed or angry.
DH is unemployed.. live with it.
Finances need to be sorted, and every euro will be sqeezed till the queens eyes bulge.
DH is scouring the web for job oppurtunities.
And we also figure that this forces us to look at other life options that we might never consider otherwise. Time will tell which doors are open to us now.
Time will tell.
I still hurt.. I am still shocked and scared. But I am also done with hanging my head.
Thank you, all you lovelies. Thanks for listening.0 -
My username is the initials of one of my favourite authors - Jerome K Jerome because I was reading Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow when I signed up.
Am trying to get to grips with Christmas as am woefully behind. Am list making tonight and shopping tomorrow (Argh I loathe and detest shopping).
Fuddle so pleased about your house move. Hope you will be very happy.
Byatt so very happy about your dog. My cat sends him a purr. Well she would I'm sure if she wasn't scared of her own shadow! She has spent the last hour hiding behind the sofa because DS was laughing loudly at something he read and made her jump.
Need chocolate. Can I justify eating the bar I bought to make a cake with? Please be patient with any mis-spellings and typos I am officially useless with a touchscreen keyboard!!! :mad:0 -
My username came about as I'd tried a few, like my name and all were in use, and I was getting cross
we were supposed to be going out, so DH shouted me to hurry up and I said I. AM. COMING. Not very nicely. He replied "keep your hair on bossymoo" and there you have it.
Pleased to hear about the doggy

My user name is from a phone call to the house from an overseas centre, when a very oriental voice asked am I speaking with Miss Katie P. Owl please? When I'd realised she meant me, it kind of stuck :rotfl: I'm a creature of habit with it, and use it in most places I am online!

Happy Birthday Shegar! :j
Sorry it's a bit late.
Byatt, so glad Bess is ok.
My username was down to the idea that I'm referred to as a bit of a tough cookie (believe it or not!), and apparently if pushed can be a little scary, but really I'm squishy in the middle.
Pooky, I get called Pooky too! My husband has that as his nickname for me.
I had less pain yesterday and am hoping this is the start of improvement.
*hugs* Beccatje, hoping things improve for you both soon.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070
