    morning everyone,

Fuddle, 7th anniversary is wool or copper and the modern present is a desk set or pen set.

For our picnic when the girls were little we used a plastic shower curtain and then put a blanket on top. They used the booster seats from the car as their seats. we took bread and butter and then bought some chips. We made chip butties yum yum lol

Today I have been to a catalogue clearance shop, I managed to get a cheap pair of trousers for DD at collage. There was so many nice bits there but I refrained from buying TBH I didn't have any more to spend. My mum wants to go to Lincoln next Monday shopping, I will probably go as I am usually the designated driver. Its nice to wander and look, but I wont be buying any bits as money is rather tight in fact being honest its just stupidly hard.

Ive managed to pick up some more extra hours again this week, OH has complained he will see me just on Thursday as that's the only day off I have. I am tired today and totally drained at the thought of another late shift. I would look for another job, but as we all know jobs are few and far between and at least the company I work for is in a fairly good financial situation.

Well must get some tea packed, and prepare OH and DD tea. They are having Cornish pasty with potatoes and veg. I am continuing my diet and having salad.

    Take care everyone x

Ooh thank you sooooo much - I have copied and pasted. Some things I have thought of but others not. One thing I don't need to carry is alcohol, thank goodness. THere's only me and DS and I don't really drink much anyway. if I fancy a beer, I'll buy a beer, but wouldn't be too bothered if it didn't happen. I have bought a bottle of fabric softener with a v. wide neck (to fit the shewee!) rather than trog across a muddy field in the middle of the night! Being on the coach is the thing that is making it most difficult as the amount of stuff you can take on is limited - no trollies for example. I shouldn't have to carry it far though - the furthest is from the bus station to the family camping field, which doesn't appear to be too far (one is right next door to the bus station).

    Glasto earth is great :D

No problem, it helped me get organised to type up the list. I am also in the process of writing up a similar list for holidays, weekends away and business trips. I always get a bit of anxiety before going away, such as bad dreams or sleepless nights, so I am trying to combat those feelings. If I have a list and stick to it, I won't stress out that I am missing something.

I think you will have the least amount of walking coming from the coach, they do it like that to encourage people to leave their cars at home. As we drink a fair bit of beer and cider we can not afford to buy it on site so we need the car!

There is fantastic food and drink (not necessarily alcohol) for sale at reasonable prices for a festival, so if space is limited I would not take any food. We just like to eat in the tent before facing the world!

It does :D and even better it's wool :D:D
FUDDLE look for disinfectant in the pound shops, or A*di or L*dl, they often have it at good prices and you can find dettol which is very good,at reasonable prices. If you find the Zoflora concentrated disinfectants they come in nice perfumes like lavender and hyacinth, makes a change from the usual pine!! and they last ages because you use so little each time.

If you're feeling flat because of missing the Provence holiday this time round I'm sure that Provence will still be there until you can get there pet, make some french food and next nice day have it in the garden in the sun and pretend, works wonders for your morale, have a theme day, croissants for breakfast, cold meat and sliced cheese for lunch with french bread, and maybe a Tian (I've got a recipe if you want one) which is a baked cheesy, courgetty, ricey, eggy sort of loaf thing, very yummy, with a salad and some fresh fruit and of course VINO!!! Throw in a good cup of coffee and you have Provence in the North of England!!! Keep smiling, Cheers Lyn xxx.

Do you live near a good fishing port up in the North FUDS? if you do the best seafood restaurants usually occur quite close to the port, and they will have the freshest fish and the cheapest prices, might be worth investigating for a nice anniversary day out rather than go to a really expensive restaurant and pay several limbs in the process, Lyn xxx.

Oh I love a French day! If you get a min and don't mind posting the recipe for the tian I would appreciate it. I don't like to ask people to type it all out but sounds right up our street :)

Could I make disinfectant up and keep it in a spray bottle? I will look on Thurs, shopping day. I know way dettori is but will try to get something cheaper ;)

We live about 45 mins from Whitby which we adore but do does half the UK. Very touristy, so is Scarborough down the road. I know what you're saying though because when we had lingoustines in Scotland last week in Oban it was just from a mobile hot dog stand in baguette and garlic butter, divine! I shall get my thinking cap on. I'm a sucker for seafood but a a restaurant meal will cost £50 easily.

Princess, great news about the money.
Ginny, sorry to hear DH isn't so good. I'm sure the little one will cheer him up, it's lovely to hear how he's so loved and cherished. I hope my parents and PILs feel the same way about my children.
Byatt, glad the shoulder is being seen to! You and me both with the weightloss. I got to 35 lbs loss but I have lost my mojo somewhat in the last few weeks and put a few lbs back on. It must stop!
Fuddle if you want a waterproof mat Asda do one for a couple of £s more: http://direct.asda.com/ASDA-Jumbo-Waterproof-Picnic-Rug/000947524,default,pd.html
I like a waterproof backing in case the ground is a bit damp - stops too much grass sticking too.
Would it be really gross to admit we save old toothbrushes for horrible jobs like scrubbing round the toilet rim? Then chuck them. We use a cut up j cloth too, and clean all bathroom related stuff, toilets last, and then throw out. I use any old cleaning fluid I've got TBH, as I seemed to have 100s of half used bottles under the sink. They're almost all gone now and horror of horrors I might actually need to buy some.
DH has his follow up appt with the doc today so I imagine his dose of anti-ds will be increased. He had been feeling better the last few days but has gone downhill again today. We all have our ups and downs anyway so trying not to read too much into it. He has been very good at keeping himself busy and doing all the little jobs which need doing, so the house is looking better anyway.

Well done on the mortgage deposit princess. A relief and a rosey outlook to future stability now

Byatt in trying to cut back too with my eating. In doing my old yoga routines but haven't done it for more than 10 years and very rusty. Doing it for strength/fitness but also to help relax my ferreting mind.

Possession your DH is going through the mill poor poor bloke. It must be soul destroying seeing him not coping, gettin help and then that exacerbating his problems. I feel for you and him. Xx

And... The toothbrush thing? Nope not disgusting to me as I save them to clean the headlice comb. Sorry lol

    Afternoon All,
Dull day here weatherwise, still to eat but will and plenty to choose from in the house. A day where my get up and go went, no energy at all...at this rate it will be time to go back to bed...

  • FUDDLE I think Disinfectant made up and put in a spray bottle would be fine, it won't keep for as long as a commercial spray will, but should give you a couple of weeks cleaning. After that it would probably be best to make up a new batch.

1 recipe coming up - we love this it's real comfort food and as nice cold as it is hot, if you're having a themed French day, you all have to wear stripy tops and berets (well hats anyway) to eat this!!! and if you want to be really french eyebrow pencil moustaches!!!

    Lyns Tian

8oz of rice (any kind will do) dry weight, cooked and drained.
1 large or 2 smaller onions, peeled and chopped fine
2 large courgettes and a handful of fresh spinach chopped
some olive oil to fry them in.
6 oz of nice mature cheese cheddar works fine but if you want real french authenticity some Comte is good, grated
    1 large egg
salt and fresh ground black pepper
fresh basil, chopped(as much as you like)
a little bit of butter for cooking.

Pre heat the oven to 180degC/350 deg F/ Gas Mk 4.

fry the onion, courgette and spinach in some oil until they are soft and the onion is transparent. Put into a large bowl with the cooked rice(well drained), half the cheese, the egg, chopped fresh basil and season to your liking with salt and pepper then mix it up well. Put it into a shallow ovenproof dish, sprinkle with the rest of the cheese and dot with a little bit of butter and bake it for about 45 minutes or until it is lovely and golden brown on top. If you like a really cheesy taste you can add more before cooking, it is really how you like it to taste as to how much you put in. Serve it with a nice green salad and some really ripe tomatoes and some olives if you like them and french dressing of course!!!

Hope you like it, it's cheap and cheerful and very summery and I believe Tians originated in Provence so it's the right taste!!! I'm not sure how much sheep cost these days, I only know Lamb is jolly expensive and can never work out why!!! Cheers Lyn xxx.

Isn't it funny how even reading/looking at meals I am unlikely to try still give me such a lot of pleasure.

I'm going to attempt one look out around 4pm and come home with some onions.

I'll regret saying this but lately when I peel/chop them I have managed to avoid crying.

  • POPS I was always told the best way to avoid peeling onions from making your eyes water is to peel them underwater, but I can't hold my breath that long!!!!! Boom Boom!!!
