Thank you for the recipe Lyn. I will write it in my note book.

Sat outside school in my new brum and remembered that I didn't tell you that my insurance has decreased by £7 a month with the micra :D slightly more mile to the gallon too. This doesn't smell of musty smoke either which I'm afraid to say Jalopy did. This car is Daisy as I look exactly how I drive in it... Like Miss Daisy!

Girls are going to be chuffed. Finished dish washing liquid so they can fill it up and squirt each other when they get in. Cloudy but still warm here.

Our insurance decreased too Fuddle and the difference in petrol costs is proving to be amazing. We've had the new (to us) car just over 3 weeks, and the tank is just under half full still. We would probably have had to fill the old car up after 2 weeks, so I estimate we'll save at least £60 a month in petrol costs, possibly more (as I'm not actually very good at estimating this kind of stuff!).
  • FUDDLE best water cannon in the world is a 2 litre lemonade/water bottle with a hole made in the lid (use a hot skewer) you can make people VERY wet with one of those, kids used to love them, I used to get very wet!!!!! this probably comes as no surprise eh? Cheers Lyn xxx.

SQ - you might be surprised at how many people walk into a room the same way you've described. Even the most confident looking ones - possibly especially the most confident looking. I teach, and at times have had classes of 150 students. People think I am super confident but there have been moments where I've stood outside the door of a lecture room cringing "I can't go in, I can't go in" - shove open the door, big smile, a very loud "Mooorrrrniiinnngg" and I'm off. It's a bit like acting really :rotfl:

You'd be surprised how many "professional Actors have exactly the same problem BTW......... we had a few you had to literally throw ontstage some nights.

Most people would rather die than stand up in front of an audience - which is why great speakers get paid so much I guess.

But practice does make it easier - I promise.

  • KIDCAT when you were looking at railway sleepers a while ago I posted a winter picture of our pond, here is what it looks like now with the plants round it grown and in bloom.f1iefo.jpg
  • MrsL (is your name Lyn?) I love the recipe for Lyns Tian so much I think I will just have to try it. Will have to cut it down a bit though as there is only me to feed, and I already weigh far too much.
Thanks JPS for ideas about herbs for my veranda. Will give them a go. I'm not at all greenfingered though so will just have to hope they grow.
Shame you could not make Provence this year Fuddle but I hope there will be another time for you to fulfil your dream. Myself and a friend had half promised to go and visit my grandson (her nephew) in Greece this year (he works for Thomson) but the finances have refused permission unfortunately.:( Will have to make do with a visit to Nottingham to visit DS2 later in year.
I've had a very down day so far. Got phone call last night from the daughter of an old friend to say her mum had taken a turn for the worse and if I wanted to say goodbye there was not much time. I did manage to get there this morning but has knocked the stuffing out of me even though we have known for some time that she was dying.. Mind you that is not hard to do.
Am going to go and sort some more paper from the mountain. That will keep me too busy to mope.
Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.
  • AOT that's me, Lyn, but I answer to most things including Oi You!! if shouted loudly enough!!! It's nice being Lyn to everyone, feels friendly, enjoy the Tian, Lyn xxx.

LYN.....Love your pic, and those beautiful ox eye daisies are super, ive got clumps of them all over the garden and they self seed alot they attracts loads of insects etc......

I have so many plants that in fact I dig clumps out of the garden couple times a year and plant them in the bank opposite the road from me , but when I went out the front yesterday to go to my car I looked up and spotted a woman on her bike had stopped and was grabbing the plants like a animal and ripping them out of the ground.:eek:I was bloody fuming, she quickly got on her bike and shot off, anyone can see theyve been put there as my neighbour cut the hawthorn hedge back so the ground get light for stuff to grow..........

Whats the point in her ripping them out of the ground , they wont take now as its not the time of year to bare root, what a dam waste ,if id have got near her im sure I would have decked her................
I know I dont own the land but im only trying to spread a few wildflowers , ive put in lots of poppy seeds and nasturniums, to flower this summer, as I have done the last 3 years..........

Went to hospital saturday morning and had my eyes tested , I do have leaking blood vessels , but they are stable so I have to go back again in 2 months time..........

Ive lost my energy past couple days, really tired, sugar levels very high indeed , so I expect I have an infection some where about to come out, hope it stays away for a day or 2 ive got another appointment at hospital in the morning, I have to be there at 9 so I will leave here at 7.30, 26 mile drive there, the carer is coming in at 7, because I cant leave hubby alone , so ive already loaded the wheelchair in the car ,even got the kettle filled up ready for the mornings cuppas etc ........

So I will probaly be in bed by 8 again tonight , as I did last night, hubby all ready in bed .....................Sleep is the best thing when your tired or ill......

The weather has been quite cloudy today , but it as been warm, suppose to be sunny all day tomorrow:).....Half way through this year already , not good........Sheila

Half way through Sheila but only a few months till September... Go on, clip me earole, I deserve it ;):p:)

Childminding course was geet good as owt (North Durham slang for great) 12 more weeks then 4 weeks peadiatric first aid which I'm looking forward to. It was great to get out and I wasn't nervous, I think because I'm quite comfy in the subject of children, more so because I knew the framework they spoke about and Ofsted doesn't scare me as had umpteen over the years. Some were professionals (a nurse and a teacher) that their body language showed that they were not at all thrilled at being there but I loved it. A very long process though but at least I have a plan and a goal :)

I'm tired! I saw some alliums on my estate today Shiela. I am jelous!

Love your pic Lyn. Who was it that said a pack of wildflower seeds a few days ago. I'm going to, just in a pot. It'll be cheap and a good start.

All this talk of sheep had my mind wandering to hand spinning again. I see myself doing small batches while DH watches his documentaries. You know what folks. I'm considered boring in a lot of my circles but I don't care, I like being at home doing homely things :)

Jeez I'm whittering, definitely tired. Take the mince out for a pie tomorrow, put the towels in to wash and then to bed. G'night my friends - at least I sleep in my bed tonight and not on a coach! ;)
  • SHEILA I'd have been as cross as crabs with the stupid woman, did she pull your plants up to take away, or just pull them out of the soil and leave them? Either way is unforgivable, but at least if she took them with her they might stand a chance of rooting again, some people eh? I'm glad you like the pond, it is lovely to sit round and watch the fish if it's warm enough and also the damsel and dragon flies coming and going, and lots of hoverflys come to look at us very earnestly at eye level when we're sitting there and them zip away again on business, I love them. We don't have a frog this year, have done most years since we put the pond in, but I think they must have suffered in this horrible cold winter and spring, not seen one this year at all. Mind my neighbour has lots of slow worms in her garden and luckily she loves them and shares them with us, particularly the babies, she gets so excited and comes to knock to show me, cos I love them too!!! Sorry you're not feeling too grand at the moment and hope that you get a decent nights sleep and feel a bit better tomorrow.

FUDDLE so pleased that your Childminding Course is great and that you enjoyed it, it's what you need pet, go girlie go!!! Glad you like the pond picture, DD1 got me a packet of wildflower seeds which is where the oxeye daisies in the picture came from along with some georgeous plantains, some poppies, some pink campion and some scabious too. The irises at the front are scented ones and smell best in the evenings so it's a joy to go past them to water the top garden. If you want a go at hand spinning, do you have a drop spindle? If you don't I have one that is taking up shelf space in my store and I'd love to send it if it would be any use to you. Let me know. I don't see how anyone could consider you boring, you're more skilled than most people, and learning new things all the time, I'd say you were adventurous and not just in the ordinary mould, maybe they should take a good look at themselves and see what they can't do before coming to the conclusion you're boring eh? Sleep well, Cheers Lyn xxx.
