Have you read any of Mercedes Lackey's short stories? She writes mainly fantasy but has a wicked sense of humour and when not writing does work with falcons and other birds of prey. She has some scathing thoughts on those who intone "The universe is a friendly place my child! :and wrote a story about a facility that cloned prehistoric animals and the protesters who broke in to release the "poor creatures" with no idea of what they were or their needs and appetites :rotfl:

From memory - one got squashed by a huge foot accidentally by standing right behind it - one got chased up a tall tree and eventually got rescued by the fed up staff and the third had not realised the enclosure he was opening homed a very carnivorous creature with excellent senses of hearing and smell which had realised a snack was on its way when the activist was still hundreds of yards away!!

She put it much better but that was the gist!

Kidkat - you can buy a one day travel card for London that allows you to train in and includes tubes (probably buses too but I've never tried). One of the best things I did when the girls were younger was the open top bus tour. You can hop on and off at different sites or just stay on board and do the whole trip, the one we did included a river cruise too so we went all round, got off at Harrods for a spot of "ooohh and ahhhhh" in the pet department, hopped back on and went round to Tower bridge, then cruised back down the river to the houses of parliament. It was lovely and a great way to see everything. I used Mr T vouchers, not sure if they're still doing it but worth a look.

Just sharing a few skin care finds:

Ground nutmeg in milk as exfoliator and blackhead remover. Have to say I'm quite impressed.

Egg white as face mask. Very tightening (better than any mask I've tried) and leaves skin smoothe, also drew out remaining oily gunk from pores.

Very pleased. Not a penny spent and no chemicals in sight.

If only there was a home remedy for whiskers eh? Anyone bleach their 'chinage'. It's free to tweeze but just looking for a longer solution, seeing as they are here as long as I am now.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Mcculloch, thank you for the advice, I'm actually seriously considering caging her everytime she poos etc
I wouldn't be able to rehome her , no one would put up with her behaviour. I'm scared in case she ever got badly treated.

Kidcat: children 10 and under can travel on the tube and buses for free. For us we got an oyster card each as the fares are cheaper than pay as you go.
Oh and if use the bus I think its £2 per adult no matter the distance. Its kind of like the tube, you only pay from the station you first go on and the last one you leave.

The national history is free and really good, has a picnic area and its up the road from harrods.

Tower bridge was going to cost us over £50. For the fours of us to go in.

The egg white face pack siunds really good.

Oh and thanks for the pork recipes , will definitely try them :)

    I'm glad I didn't offend.
I know that animal charities are under pressure, but I wonder if Cats Protection would take her, or one of the charities that don't put an otherwise healthy animal down, if caging doesn't work as a behaviour modifier?
