CS's are not good nowadays, the recession has put paid to that I think. Im glad I got out of the business as managers must be under a huge amount of pressure to reach targets. I left to look after hubby but there were lots more reasons I could see that justified it. To be honest I was physically and mentally exhausted with the work and jumping through hoops. It got to the point where I never knew which shop I would be working in and who would be running mine whilst I was away.
Went in 5 Cs's today and all I bought was a pair of new curtains for the fabric. Fabric is so damned expensive now that I fit the task to match what I have squirreled away. I can see me raiding Mums quilt cover stash again soon. I have been spoiled since a child as firstly Dad was a warehouse manager for a fashion designer (my mentor) then in later years Mum worked for a bedding company and could buy slight seconds of bedding and fabric. I made a good bit of extra cash selling on the bedding after repairing it and we did keep some but alas its run out now. She once got me a quilt cover that had been destined for a cruise ship - I thought it was actually a cover for the ship :rotfl: as it was so big. I cut it up and recovered my couch with the fabric. Aaah those were the days !
I think most charities are really struggling now. I send crafted stuff to several charities but am having a problem with postage as are many of the regulars. Its getting to the point where I would be better sending them cash but thats not the idea behind it, and much less fun.
I am really fed up with the problems in this country everywhere you look people are in crisis, charities will end up closing their doors and there will we be. Heard today that one CAB has a 6 month waiting list for appointments due to the cutbacks - sad times.Clearing the junk to travel light

Ok orders received and understood.
If find I am behind with the tidying after the weekend a neighbour who lives half a street away has offered his help, he's really angry about it and I cannot print what he said about them.
The dining room is tidy and uncluttered. The lounge too. Two bedrooms, the toilet area, landing and hallway. I have pulled the stuff out of the bathroom into the bedroom used least, well the bags split:mad:to be honest causing more work. I was trying to get it out of the house and into the garage. The small amount that was left from tidying the dining room is in the kitchen. i thought it better all in one place.
So I now have one bedroom and the kitchen to tidy. Though I'd like new carpets and curtains I'll worry about that later. I've held off in case times get difficult or I have to move, a bit like RAS said about my food store.
Yes, I'll go out:)
Got the crate changed...and found a slow cooked steak pie(worth £2+)for 65p and some sliced turkey and sliced ham worth approx £10 for £4.60 so will try and have some nice sandwiches/salad/meals...

Evening all.
ginny, know what you mean about the charity shops. Some are routinely offering stuff in excess of the new price, esp with bric a brac. Oftentimes, they want £2 for something which is available in the pound or 99p store. Crazy.
I'm blessed in that I live in one of the poorer parts of the city so we have a few charity shops which are the last ports of call on small regional chains; stuff which didn't sell in more affluent towns comes here for a last outing before ragging or pulping.
It means, if I choose wisely, I can get clothing for 50p a pop and books 3 for £1 and similar on bric a brac.
You'd think with a remit like that, the stuff would be dross but there's a lot of pretty good stuff available, if you're not too proud to go rummaging. Hint; I'm not too proud.
However, there are other c.s. whose doors I barely darken as I find them overpriced.
Been for a little scrabble on the lottie and planted a row of leeks and pulled some weeds. Several thousand still awaiting my attention up there.
Oh, and a slug crossed my path. Literally. But it didn't make it to the other side, mwah ha ha!
The 2013 slug season has officially opened; let battle commence.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Gosh, I'm tempted to have my annual night out :rotfl: to see Two Gentlemen of Verona, it's only (ahem) £10 with concessions but it's a ride into the Big City, which is a 60 mile round trip. I adore Shakespeare and have not seen this play before. Maybe a week of beans on toast would pay for the petrol
. It's also on what would have been my 37th wedding anniversary and I usually try to do something nice for me.

GQ - I think you should include your kill stats in your siggy and update regularly
I was sorely-tempted to keep a chalked score on the side of the lottie shed last year, it was so ridiculous, I was killing upward of 100 most trips. Never known anything like it.
It was like a biblical plague except locusts are more edible. It absolutely creased my Dad up that I was counting them as I killed them, but it was the only way I could have a sense of accomplishment, the beggars were everywhere.
Here's a question; what happens if I use washing powder marketed for handwash/ twin tubs in an automatic washer?
The end of the world or just a horrible frothy mess? I have a vague recollection that auto powder is low suds compared with twin-tub handwash powder.
Reason I ask is I'm on the last knockings of the auto powder but have a carton of twintub/ handwash Daz which I'd like to use up.
Is it feasible? Or incredibly unwise? I'm not so skint I can't afford another box of automatic washing powder, just want to use up the Daz and have some cupboard space.Your input is eagerly anticipated. I shall get the wash onto the rack, put the kettle on and see you shortly..........
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Byatt You've given three good reasons to go and see it - GO 'cos you'll only wish you had & regret it whereas you'll have a nice glow from seeing something you'd really enjoy (instead of some of the carp on TV!)Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0
