Pooky, I was told I could not advise the tax credit people of my reduced income until I had my form for the year ended 5/04/13...not being sent out until June! Are they wrong?

Byatt - I think because I'd phoned TC peeps about the change in payment and then snuck in the "oh whilst I'm here can i give you our correct details" they couldn't really say no.

Thanks Pooky, I'll give that a try, it seems to depend on who you get too, I often have to phone more than once in the hope I get someone who has more knowledge! :D

Very grateful though for all that. Don't know what I'd do without them. :)

:) Hey fuddle, I made out like a bandit at that supermarket in Whitby, got loads of YS ham from the deli counter for 40p a pop and was able to make the sarnies for the trip back down sarf.

Years ago, I had some work in Lunnon and was freaking out about having to drive a van in such a big city, although I'm normally pretty dauntless behind the wheel.

Once I was down there I realised that Lunnon ain't Gotham City, it's a just a lot of smaller towns glued together, and I was fine. Plus I was driving a white van, and thus part of the fraternity of White Van Men (honorary man division) so if I ended up in the wrong lane at traffic lights, other van drivers would let me into the correct lane no bother.:p

Been gorgeous today, the countryside is burgeoning. The cow parsley has come out and leaves and blossoms are everywhere. There was a pile of pigeon feathers on the lottie which wasn't there yesterday, so I reckon it was either a mog or a hawk.

Right, cuppa, bit more interwebulating, then I have a pile of library books calling me.............have a nice evening, all. GQ xx

I have a lot of friends who won't drive in London, personally I don't see a problem you never seem to get above 25mph which I can manage just fine, it's driving at speed that I have problems with, well my car does.

I count myself lucky that I learned to drive in central London - the roundabouts at the Elephant and Castle hold no fear for me :rotfl:! If you can drive there, you can drive anywhere, and I didn't want to be a nervous driver. I have to say, driving in Pembrokeshire brings a whole other set of challenges :D - although the lack of traffic lights and road humps is a blessing.

I am from London originally but my accent is long gone. However whenever I hear the accent I feel safe and almost time warp back to childhood. A couple of years ago we visited London and just being sat in the pub a relative remarked "isn't it lovely just listening to people speak in a London accent" and it was. Fast forward 3 hours and we were attempting to get on the M25 and my relative who was driving was in the wrong lane. As she tried to move over a man in a white van cut up the inside and through his window shouted something extremely not nice. My relative was really shocked and flustered until I said "isn't it lovely just listening to people speak in a London accent" !

DH won £20 fishing using a tin if spam from the cupboard. Think he used some brea and sweet corn too but not a bad return for using bait from the cupboard :D

So £20 in the house keeping :)

Enjoyed a lovely day in the garden today. DH finished the re-felting of the shed (wind blew off old stuff a few weeks back) this evening so that was funny as DH faffs about when he's in DIY mode. Kids been playing outdoors with their bears, changing their clothes etc. Took bread ends to feed the ducks over the pond.

So not a penny spent and a good day had by all. Thankfully the weather has been lovely so that's helped.

Plan for tomorrow is baking for packet lunch, thinking jam tarts, cheese straws and hunt the popcorn maker out the back of the cupboard. Mmmm melted honey and a spot of butter ;)

Stewing steak with onions and yorkshires tomorrow.

Just want to say I watched the DVD Quartet today and really enjoyed it so those with a musical bent would really like it.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

evening toughies, just back from a lovely day visiting friends. It was nice to spend the day catching up. Yesterday we watched the flower parade, possibly the last one due to costs of security to close roads etc. Red tape overload if ever there was one.

Mrs LW the garden talk sounds lovely, glad you too enjoyed yours fuddle. Congrats to mr fuddle the champion fisherman. GQ we haven't got cowslip here yet, maybe soon??
Left all the washing out today, so just some ironing to sort tomorrow. Will be trying to sort the shed of doom tomorrow, its either bin, carboot or charity. Basically everything needs to be removed, sorted as restacked. Despidering and cleaning too.

Well off to find some aftersun, got slightly singed today and now I am stinging.
