Quote from carloans4u from AugustThere are around 6,000 speed cameras on the UK’s open roads and it now seems that a new variant is currently being trialled in Malaysia, with the catch being that they are not quite as easy to spot as the more recognisable big yellow boxes we are used to seeing.
These cameras are actually being secretly hidden in the crash barriers along the motorways in a further bid to help to enforce speed limits on the roads. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

See post 15. It is the same limited bit of information rotating through a limited number of sites. And that is my point. There appears to only be one or two of these cameras (according to what can be found on the net) in each country with no corroboration of the original posters claim.
I think what you're seeing here is the Internet at it's worst. Something happens on a road in Spain and a few people think it would a funny to copy the pictures and start rumours of new speed cameras here there and on the A52.
I use the A52 regularly and could tell immediately that it wasn't the A52 in the picture. You won't find any corroboration because there isn't any. The original post was either misguided or malicious.
They also use these on Spanish roads.
I wonder how long it'll be before someone uses Photoshop to hide the fact that it's left hand drive and announces that these cars are being used in the UK?One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
Any speed camera that low and exposed would be vandalised pretty quicky
In France and Spain they often are. They have a habit of either stealing them or dropping a load of old tyres over them and setting fire to them. Our European cousins are a lot fonder of direct action than we are.
Perhaps this is a trial to see if it can survive longer than the normal ones do over there. :rotfl:One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
I knew it wasn't the A52 (I don't know the road but the train power lines in the background are a dead giveaway that it is not the UK - totally different catenary). However the same pictures have been attributed to so many different countries and it was actually declared a hoax back in 2007 from the country that it originally started in.I wonder how long it'll be before someone uses Photoshop to hide the fact that it's left hand driveThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. Also a car based system as shown means that you have to get out each time you stop to clean it. Also due to the shape of that aperture your detection range (due to shadow effect of the bodywork) is probably in the region of 50M and although not a high intensity I would not like to be sitting in front of a radar beam at such close range. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
