Some MPs take their responsibility a little more seriously, e.g. James Morris, Halesowen 96% attendance record.

So we now know that James Morris is more bothered wih being in parliament for every little thing than he is with being in his constituency. Probably hoping to get himself seen and known to advance his career.

Or is that not the point you were making?

Being an MP is not just about speaking in parliament. Graham Brady is head of the 1922 committee which I imagine takes up quite a lot of his time. i.e. not time spent helping his constituents I personally have had no dealings with him but he is a popular man in the constituency.

I am confused why you are bringing up examples of good MPs who work hard to disprove my argument that MPs do work hard?

I believe there are around 650 MPs? You've come up with about 5 that are bad seeds. To prove your assertion that "most don't work hard" I did not assert that you need about another 321 examples!

Brady may be popular, so is George Galloway.

Brady does not appear to be one of those you claim work very hard for their constituents. He is one of the MPs who was found to have made false expenses claims.
As I said a significant number of MPs have been caught with their nose in the trough
:rotfl: an indication of the scale of the abuse of the system, around 180 MPs have joined an undignified scramble to pay back almost £500,000 in
    wrongly-claimed expenses.

My point is, I disagree with your glib assertions that most MPs work very hard and only a small minority misbehave is inaccurate. At the other end of the spectrum, to suggest most MPs are lazy and the majority have their nose in the trough is equaly inaccurate.

MPs come in all shapes and sizes and I believe the truth lies somewhere between those extremes.

The quote about 180 MPs has absolutely no context or source so frankly is a ridiculous point. I imagine it was from the expenses scandal a few years ago.

Also I don't see any link between wrongly claiming expenses and not working hard?

Graham Brady wins every election he stands in. His constituents are more than happy with him.

I have shown, your glib assertions that most MPs work very hard and only a small minority misbehave is inaccurate. At the other end of the spectrum, to suggest most MPs are lazy and the majority have their nose in the trough is equaly inaccurate.

My point is MPs come in all shapes and sizes and I believe the truth lies somewhere between those extremes.

You are changing your argument now. Your first statement said most MPs don't work hard. Now you are saying its somewhere in the middle? Your point has changed!

I have no doubt some work hard, but I would suggest most do not. Many rarely meet with constituents other than at election time and very rarely seen in the house.

    Seems you did......

Well done, you got me there. :T
The quote about 180 MPs has absolutely no context or source so frankly is a ridiculous point. I imagine it was ....
..... you who brought the subject up:rotfl:. You may have forgotten you said
Saying all MP's are on the fiddle is another one of those weak arguments that is given out by people who don't really know what they are talking about.
In this context 5 being investigated by the police for fraud and 180 being told to return expenses is very relevant. As you said
    only a small minority

The problem with the expense scandal was that rules on expenses were retrospectively applied to MPs expenses. The rules were changed. You had a small number of corrupt MPs(who were dealt with). However they led to new rules being applied which meant people had to pay back expenses that were legitimate at the time.

Always always always when sending an email to an MP start the message with "Regarding your expenses claim"

I had a ginger female who wouldn't reply to messages I sent to this waste of space ginger female Mp, nothing against gingers or females other than this fraudster, I found it the only way to attracts its attention, fortunately it got voted out at the last election, but still it hangs round local issues trying to regain its corrupt life.

They are in the business for what they can get out of it, I suppose this reflects society
