Oh right thank you
Hope it is solveable for those who have gift cards/vouchers too
I thought I had read that gift vouchers wern't being accepted now it was in administration."If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

Always buy electronic goods online. Always have, always probably will, so not surprised at this news. Others will follow.0

That's exactly why I've not bought anything from Comet in over a decade.
Time and time again, when faults occurred, they were the worst fob-off merchants I ever encountered.
Never ever took any responsibility and just gave me the phone number of the manufacturer or their agent to get a repair. Clearly never heard of the Sale of Goods Act and the consumers absolute right to a refund for faulty goods soon after purchase.
Had a real battle once re a video recorder - engineers came out three times to look at it and eventually agreed it needed replacing (fault apparent immediate upon first use!!). But Comet wouldn't refund nor replace and the best they'd do was give me a replacement ex-demo model!
Then a relative bought us a washing machine from Comet for our wedding (we'd already decided never to darken their doors again after the video fiasco). On day on delivery, it never arrived, no communication from drivers nor Comet. We rang the store it was purchased from - they couldn't care less and just told us to ring to delivery firm (number not being answered several times). When eventually spoke to delivers, they said they'd had no instruction from Comet and to ring back Comet. Phoned backed Comet, and they again refused to talk about it and referred us back to delivers. Wouldn't put me through to speak to the store manager either. Eventually I had to go to the store and found the manager myself - had to really push him to do anything and eventually he did a bit of ringing round and found that the item was found to be damaged at the warehouse so had been back ordered and wouldn't be delivered for another couple of weeks. Couldn't explain why no-one had told us!!! Got another delivery date, waited again, and still didn't arrive - again, no communication. Same scenario of shop staff not interested and so I had to go see the manager again and eventually got a new delivery date. Then another week later, it finally arrived with a big dent in it so I refused it and went back to store with relative to insist on a refund. Got one from Currys in the end with no problems at all.
So, the only surprise for me is that they lasted so long with such poor customer service.
Buying online directly couldn't have been any worse. The fact of having a physical store and staff didn't help one jot.0 -

How nice is this? While the capitalist business model asset strips, people like this are around...
I just hope they didn't then buy it in Comet. This is not a normal gift card. It's a card specifically linked to ipads in conjunction with Comet and The Family Fund.A four-year-old cerebral palsy sufferer left heartbroken when Comet refused his £500 gift card is celebrating - after a complete stranger stepped in and donated him the cash.
Samuel Horton was given the generous gift card by the Family Fund charity in order to buy an iPad to help him complete school homework.
But when his mother Maria Horton, 32, tried to use the card it was refused by Comet, which collapsed into administration last week.
But kind-hearted John Alexander, 70, from Rochdale, decided to give Samuel £500 cash for the iPad after reading about the schoolboy's sad plight.
The charity fundraiser said: 'I was touched by this story.
'I’ve had ups and downs in life, like we all have, but God has been good to me, and I have always tried to help along the way.'
Samuel, from Plymouth, Devon, who has just started school, needs the iPad to help with his schoolwork as he has extreme difficulty writing because his hand shakes.
Mr Alexander added: 'Every now and then something like this comes along and if I can do anything to help, that’s what I do.'
One commentator from the business arena said Comet was still selling gift cards knowing full well they wouldn't be able to honour them.0 -
It says on BBC News site that they are now able to accept gift cards again0
