  • The Comet website on Facebook, says their new look website will be available from 28 November 2012, with Condition Gadgets UK as a new member of their 'fresh retail family'. It looks like Comet and new associates will operate through the Internet only. I wonder if they will re - employ any of their staff who will be made redundant by this move? Will they help previous customers with existing problems?

    Forget the 28/11 message

I think the website message was probably there before the administrators moved in. Remember currently its still an ongoing concern all shops are operating while the administrators assess the situation/books.

If there were to be a spin off web site that would come from new owners who would have to buy the business from the administrators.

I bought a microwave from Kitchen Science (apparently part of Comet) on 20th Oct, delivered 26th Oct.
The machine was overheating which was reported to Kitchen Science 29th Oct., and was returned to Kitchen Science via Yodel on 1st November which Kitchen Science arranged.
The agreement was that on receipt of microwave, Kitchen Science would issue a refund.
I paid via PayPal. If kitchen Science fail to comply, can PayPal help get my money back, or have I waved my money goodbye.

Seems the Comet owners who took over for a couple of quid have been pretty clever. They split the warranty business and placed it in the carribean.

It means that the warranty business cannot be touched, and the investors will walk away with around £60m, which can't be used to pay off those who comet leave standing.

One commentator suggests this was probably this idea all along, though quite unethical, though it's been explained by the company as "protecting the investors".

Good old capitalism and greed don't you just love it;)

I wonder how many suppliers, banks and revenue will be left high and dry.

    Yup!

Seems the company who did this to comet, has already done it to another and let it go bust. I guess stripping it and then letting it die is "just business". Trouble is, it leaves so many others at a loss.

That might have been the only way they bidded to run and try and save it. It does not mean it was the plan all along it may have been a condition of taking the project on.

The investors condition perhaps. Arguably the creditors are in a worse position than they would have been x months ago.
