Well no, when I first made an enquiry with them as to whether I'd ever had PPI, that was back in august, they took the full 8 weeks to tell me yes and which loan policies.

Then they said do you want to complain, I said yes I want to complain that I was unfairly sold PPI, that was about 8 weeks ago

there is no offer/counter offer. They offer what you paid, plus interest, plus 8% and that's it.

Anyone else suddenly have an image of an "underworld" of people offering advice only by personal message?
If I had received unsolicited private messages offering advice about my own PPI claim, I'd have wondered why on earth they didn't simply post in the open forum.
It would have made me very suspicious of anything they said...

Sometimes on here answers appear negative as if people don't want you to be successeful in your claim in this case. Hopefully its not intended that way but it does come accross, some of the people well versed in these areas appear embittered and for example harp on about fraudulent claims etc etc, its kinda weird.

The PM's I got were very helpful and thats just the way it is, no one was after anything from me, only giving me help, and it worked and I really appreciate it.

My case was genuine, I was missold, I called HSBC out on it and they have paid out, justice has been achieved in my book and I am happy.

Not sure why your making such an issue of the fact I recieved PM's as if its a bad thing. Same thing happened on a life insurance renewal thread I posted, the PM's were more helpful generally and again they wanted nothing from me.

In my experience, unsolicited private messages are usually from ambulance chasers.
Your experience appears to have been different, but you're the only poster I've seen actually acknowledging such messages on the public forum.
