Cool thanks, the banks have clearly missold often then given the amounts they've paid out and further monies set aside, shame on them. Like Martin says, banks are the enemy, time for people to stand up0

We will never find out but it would be nice to know how much of it was auto payout. Yes the banks mis-sold but they are going to be paying out far more than they should if it were possible to only repay on mis-sold cases. The level of fraudulent complaints is currently running at over half the complaints made.
My role is a competitor to the banks. I know their failings and problems but I would not class them as the enemy. This anti banker bashing and anti-bank mentality is silly. Where they did wrong they should be taken to task but they do a lot right. I hark back to the days of the bank being a bank and not a sales front. We may see that again. However, banks just reflect the wider public. They tried a fast one in some areas just a the public do every day in other areas. Or to put it bluntly, they were as bent as the average consumer is.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Right, completed my questionaire form, sending it off to HSBC tommorrow after I copy it.
Hopefully they recognise the error in their ways and pay up!0 -
i had a recent PPI on 5 HSBC graduate loans upheld,..i culdnt remember all aspects around the time the loans were taken on so i literally just put unsure on the form and gave as much information as possible.
Its just the standard form, HSBC are fairly fair but just to warn they will take the full 8 -12 weeks to investigate whether you were missold., mine was bang on the 8 weeks and paid out only 5 working days later into my HSBC account.

You seem to have missed out the word "almost".
There is also the PPI mispurchasing scandal - where consumers seem to have been incapable of reading an application form
and the PPI miscomplaining scandal - where consumers with no valid grounds for complaint fraudulently make one in the hope of a quick buck.
I am not for a moment suggesting that misselling has not occurred but the idea that it is a case of Borrowers Good Lenders Bad is simply untrue. There has been a great deal of bad on both sides.0 -

well, the bank wrote back and have offered £4,400.
i haven't fully read it yet but will have to work through it relative to my original loan details.
Do people just generally accept the first offer and what success do people have if they challenge them?0
