    Morning,
We didnt have any trickortreaters last night as the weather was appalling, though I had bought in a few sweets.DS2 polished some of them off when he came in.He went to a rustic spooky themed thingy on a farm, with a friend(girl) who needed cheering up £10 for an hour:eek:though you've got to admire the enterprise of whoever set that up ;)

They are at home today as they finished a job yesterday, waiting for the go ahead for the next,so DH is carrying on at home with our living room, plastering round the new windows he put in at the weekend and putting the TV on the wall.We decided against moving all the cables to the other side so have ordered a small shelf unit to put the sky box , router phone etc.Just need a longer cable for the telly.Next step after that is altering the lighting, and a paint job to finish.I never get much done when they're at home either nmlc ;)

Tea tonight is a small gammon joint out of the freezer.Still got a big'un in there to save for Crimbo.DS1 might have pizza,he's not keen on gammon.Might make some butternut soup this morning for our dinner (lunch :D) as they all like that.Don't think I've time to do rolls as well but there is a loaf I made yesterday.DGD is coming at teatime too.

Miffy sorry you were worried, at the obnoxious teenager.
Hilstep & Molly, hope your painful ribs/tums get better & don't come back.
BB- hope Tyler puts his ounce on quick, congrats
Jackie- glad DD is safe and well and managed to get some shopping done :)
Hope you all have a good day x

  • May I join you this morning? I'm on half term this week so trying to catch up on a few house/garden jobs that need doing before we really hunker down for winter.
We have brilliant sunshine here and not too cold either. 'Twas a bit wild last night though. We only had the neighbours 3 littlies trick or treating so lots of left-over sweeties for my kids today!
I've read a few threads this morning and all seem to agree that the kids were well-behaved and polite - they do get a bad press sometimes don't they.
The wash-bin is empty due to the good weather :D but the ironing pile is HUGE:eek:. I like to do the ironing on a Sunday morning listening to The Archers omnibus, but not sure if it can wait that long:o
The garden tidy-up is going slowly. I really need to cut the grass, but it's so wet. All the leaves are soggy too, so difficult to rake up. I'm telling myself that if I leave them where they are, they are providing mulch for the flower beds! Still, at least I've got the geraniums in the greenhouse. I raised them this year from 99p mini-plug plants and they grew really well - beautiful colours.
Need to get the breadmaker on now.....
    Laters,

    Afternoon all,

Feeling slightly more positive this morning after the job disappointment. Did my usual thing last night of sabotaging myself with food but managed to realise what I was doing and stopped. I am one of those people who eat when they are sad, happy bored etc, strangely I never go off my food:eek:
Anyway today's a new day. Have posted myebay parcels and tidied around. Ds3 went to a Halloween party last night and his two mates came back to stay, I don't mind at least they travel home together. So have left them all in bed. They went as gangsters and looked so handsome.
Rosy same here with the trick or treaters just a couple of littlest with fab costumes as the weather was appalling.
Just picked up hubby's shirt from n@xt and managed to get £10 off as I ordered on line for the first time so only cost £12 in total. So that his wedding outfit complete.
Going to try and go for a walk later and organise something healthy for tea.
Just off to see if there are any new jobs worth applying for, have a good day all J x

    Update:
Been to see Doc. BP still high. He has doubled my pills, and ordered a blood test and BP check in 2 weeks time. Took a wee sample which didn't look good, he's sent it off, so maybe that's the problem. Feeeling better now, I have two very good GP's :)

    Hi

I didn't get onto MSE yesterday, so catching up with yesterday's thread...;)

Hilstep I know the exact date I got my lupus diagnosis, too... 10th September 2003; three days before my wedding. I hope you're feeling a ittle better now – you did right to call 999. I know one tends to feel one shouldn't, but there are times when it is justified.

nlj and others: Even though I'm a Pagan, and we do celebrate Samhain, I don't care for the modern trick-or-treating antics. Seems more like “demanding money with menaces” to me, particularly as the ones we've seen in years past have been rather large, and scary in a sort of “I'll mug you given half a chance” way; and there's the unpleasant habit of egging (or vandalising, imho) peoples' property if they don't get given what they want (I've suffered that where I used to live – I was actually out at the time it occurred, came home to a disgusting mess all over the front of the house). Luckily, we haven't had any round here this year; and of course now I have the video entry phone, so I don't have to spend five painful minutes struggling to the door to find out who's there.;)

Tbh, I'm generally uncomfortable around children at the best of times,:( probably because I've never had any dealings with them; I didn't have a “normal” childhood myself, and have no idea how to communicate with children – for goodness sake, I find adults difficult enough!! Give me dogs any day, I know how to cope with those!:D

We had our black candles lit, and did our annual sweep out of any negative energy that's accumulated in the bungalow since last year; we also had the customary (for us) bottle of champagne.;) Just us (and Mary Dog of course) – I don't do parties under any circumstances.

On to today – I took Mary for her walk earlier, and the field is all flooded! There were gulls swimming about where there's usually grass, so we must've had a lot of rain last night!

Easy dins again for us – pasta in cheese sauce;;) Mr LW's taking me into town as soon as he gets home as I have a huge prescription (five items, one of which is a “controlled” drug) to put into the chemist; I specifically want to go when my preferred pharmacist is on duty; thankfully they're open til 20:00 on Thursdays nowadays.:o
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

Still not supposed to be here but have 'writer's block' with a vengeance.

Molly: Have you eaten or taken anything that could have caused the pain? I had just what you have described a few years ago and was terrified as hadn't been sick since 1949. I had a headache (again, almost unheard of) and a colleague had given me one of her A*n*d*n Extra tablets - containing Aspirin, which had caused the pain and sickness. Turns out I cannot tolerate Aspirin. Could it be something like this for you?

HH: It's speed-reading wot does it. You're not the only one. I read through JackieO's post and wondered why someone should think of hanging spooky deodorants in their window.

Julie: Sounds as though you are all organised for a fabulous day tomorrow. Enjoy every minute of it.

LW: Strange! I had a normal childhood, spent all my life with children and deal with people all the time, but I hate parties with a passion. It's the enforced jollity and obligation to enjoy myself that gets me. I crave solitude sometimes but rarely get it. You just go on being you, you're just fine as you are.

    Afternoon all,

i know i'm a bit late but better late than never eh?

1st of the Month. The day most of the direct debits go out of my bank account for the household bills. Such a lot of money to go out in such a short space of time.:(

Had to phone Eon this morning, despite only owing them £22 in 12 months and being £139 in credit as today stands they have decided i need to increase my Direct Debit from £104 to £127. When i finally got through i told them that if i owe them money at the end of the settlement period i will pay them what i owe in one lump sum. The email stated the reason why the direct debit needed to be increased was because of my leap in usage which is a load of balls really as we are using less than we did this time last year accorrding to their very own energy tracker. In fact the only reason they want to increase it is because ive had to change tarrifs to a dearer one after my current tarrif ended awhile back and the cost is higher. I might be thick but i aint that thick! I cant say they were very happy (maybe they thought i was going to run off or something) but they have backed down. The Direct Debit will stay at £104. Over the next wintery months i'll just submit the meter readings and pay the extra to keep us in credit but i'll be damned if i am giving them an extra £276 a year via my Direct Debit.

This afternoon i was at the hospital for a routine check up. All is well but whilst i was out i decided to have a meal and not to rush back. I think i ate too much cause all i want to do now is sleep and i'm cold.

We had no trick and treaters last night. Mind you, it was chucking it down and i dont live on an estate. There aint any kids in my road either so i guess the kids further afield didnt want a walk in the rain.

Right, i'd better get back to it. I'll catch up with your news later.

Have a good evening all of you.
