O/S Daily Thead 1st Nov

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 1st Nov. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

    Morning Bargainbird and others.

Woke again at 5 and made a cuppa. Dishwasher and WM on with soda crystals going through as both were looking gunky! Yuk!:rotfl:

Cat went nuts this morning chasing his tail, and jumping on the bed wet:mad:
Haven't looked yet to see if he's left muddy paws everywhere:rotfl:

Had an awful pain under my ribs last night. It started at 3 and by 7 was awful and I found it hard to breathe, so reluctantly called 999. Paramedics were fab. They did an ECG and although they were concerned about my blood pressure, when I said it was about right for me, they said that I should ring GP today, as they think I may have a chest or kidney infection.:o

I always feel that you shouldn't call 999, but they were great about it.

Wrote all my Xmas cards yesterday, as I had nothing better to do!:rotfl:

Had sweets for halloween, but nobody called!

    Have a good day all!

Hil - hope it goes okay with the GP.

It's wet and windy here. Dinner last night was lamb & veg. DH is out tonight so I get to have liver & mashed swede with Mum. Working this morning, and then tomorrow afternoon - caught up on work Tuesday afternoon so am feeling fairly relaxed, although no doubt chaos will have happened yesterday to land on my desk today. Just got a LinkedIn message from a girl I worked with in the 90s - great to catch up.

The Daily Mail today reckons half of all women can only confidently cook by the time they reach 55 - clearly they didn't ask anyone here! I've been cooking family meals since my early teens because Mum, Dad and Nan taught me, and I've passed on the skills to the stepkids.

Have a good day everyone :)

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Cloudy and overcast, wind has dropped but wet underfoot and leaves all over after the blustery conditions yesterday. DH up and off to work stupid early. DS2 has got up in a right grumpy mood, looks like today's going to be fun then!!

Dinner last night was roast chicken, mash, veg, stuffing and gravy, and a YS apple crumble with LO cream or custard, I had a sad looking banana chopped up in my custard. Not sure what we will be having tonight, will organise that at some point today. Both boys and myself have the dentist this morning first thing, so we'll be needing to be away in good time.

Work yesterday was steady so made the morning go quite quickly.

Today I have all the normal list of chores to do but with the boys at home, I just can't seem to get on when they are here, will do the best I can.

Managed to sell my old mobile phone on a recycling website and will be getting £21 - it's not loads but bearing in mind it's not a wow wow phone I'm more than pleased with that, will be sending it off shortly.

Have a great day everyone x

Really quiet last night for Trick or Treaters:(
Those that called were all really friendly and polite though:T

Hope you feel better soon Hilly. I must admit I was also close to dialling 999 yesterday as I was in dreadful pain from my tummy. I nearly fainted and frightened my poor son - then was sick (sorry TMI) and right as rain within 10 minutes. Goodness only knows what that was

Hope you all have a good day.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Morning all, very wet here but not actually raining at the moment. Pets walked and fed so off to school in a while. Like some of you on here yesterday I don't like halloween and felt really threatened in my own house last night by an obnoxious teenager demanding sweets and threatening to egg my house if I didn't give him some. Told him I'd call
the police if he did and that seemed to do the trick. I felt really bad for the rest of the evening though. I'm not against little children going around to friends and neighbours but we just seem to get teenagers who really should know better. Well at least it's over for another year.
Hugs to all in need, Hilstep hope you can get to the doctors today. Hugs for little Tyler BBird it's very worrying when they are in Special care, my DD was 3lb 8oz at birth and was in for 17 days, I still can't look at a baby in an incubator without welling up. Hugs to Molly too
Hope everyone has a good day and you get everything done you need to :)
