We've got this in our garden - my vote would be nigella, closely followed by fennel (both of which have run wild for us).Nelly's other Mr. Hyde0

The name of the plant is Pulsatilla vulgaris (Pasque Flower) as name implies it is a flower of Easter; its petals yield rich, green dye that at one time was used to stain Easter eggs. It is a lovely plant, with purple golden-centred, goblet like flowers, which are followed in May by fluffy seed heads. see http://www.mooseyscountrygarden.com/perennial-plants/pasque-flower.html0
