Help identifying plants?

Ive just got round to having a go at clearing my front garden of weeds but Im struggling to tell what are weeds and what are plants (the previous owner didnt do any gardening!)

Whilst Id like to tidy it up Id hate to waste money by having to buy plantsif Ive already got some

Are there any websites that you can use to identify whether its a plant or weed? Or one where you can put in a vague description and it will give you possibilities?

Many thanks

If it is growing vigourously it is probably a weed!!
  • If you pull it out, its usually a plant. ;)

  • It seems to resemble Cosmos, but I can't say for sure without seeing a flower.

I agree with that. If it is cosmos, you might have a long wait, as they usually flower in the late summer.

Ill keep it for this year then but if it doesnt flower then I guess it can go LOL

As it happens its not in the way and it does look pretty so its no hardship to keep it for now

    Thanks so much
