Bed Depot/Sleep Depot

This shop has a great clause hidden in their terms and conditions regarding delivery which says that delivery is deemed to have been made when the goods are off-loaded from the van at the delivery address. This isn't highlighted in the store when you pay the £25 delivery charge, the result being that when the sofa bed I ordered from them turned up, it sat in the street for nearly five hours while I waited for a mate to finish work to help me get it in the house. When I got it unpacked, it turned out that it wasn't properly finished, with the bolts that held the fold-down bits inside together missing, so when I tried to fold it down, the whole thing collapsed. Still waiting for a response from the store.....

    I never pay delivery charge.
They always back down when I tell them I am not paying £20 for them to delivery an item I have paid over a grand for and will take my business elsewhere.
  • Normally I'd do the same - just happens that we're in the process of moving 150 miles up the road and were only in our new town that day, so it just seemed easier...... shoud've known better

  • One year ago, we had an absolute nightmare with Dreams plc and their disgraceful attitude to customers. Long story short, ordered bed, failed to deliver, eventually delivered, wrong bed, badly made, weeks of complaining to get refund.

This time around we shopped around the competition and came across Sleep Depot. Chose the bed and explained to the manager about how poor Dreams were. He made it his personal mission to have our bed delivered within 10 days and last night we had a great sleep.

Good company to buy from. 100% recommend them

just foind this thread, i have had a nightmare with sleep depot
paid over £1200 for a frame and matteress, i was given a del date of approx 6 weeks, when the del date was about due we got a call to organise del, i sat in all day at about 4.30 i called to check and they had no record of my bed being organised for del on that day, in fact there where further delays, i said i want to cancell they called back to offer £1000 comp, the bed eventually turned up 3 months after i ordered it, all was well, until the Thurs before good friday when the center bar holding the slats broke, i called and was told that i would get a replacement part on the tues after easter, guess what no sign, apparently the del couriers lost it????
to this day i am still waiting, out bed is help up with a old piece of wood dh found.
The customer service i have found is terrible
  • I am currently having delivery problems with Sleep Depot. Ordered and paid for a silentnight bed on 25th June and arranged delivery for 10th July. They tried to deliver the mattress but no base, when I spoke to the salesman at the shop he told me it hadn't been order (even though I had paid for it!). 2 delivery dates have come and gone since then and we still have no bed. The store staff blatantly lie when I query why the bed hasn't been delivered as promised on these days, saying no delivery was arranged. When I ask what the problem is they say they will contact head office and get back to me but never do. Does anyone know customer services number at head office as the number the shop gave me just rings out!!!

Did you sign to say they delivered it?
  • I quite like beds from dreams. They are of a good quality and competitively priced.
Excellent and marvellous stuff, bon point

  • I bought a double bed, mattress and a pair of those drawers on wheels that go under the bed from THE SLEEP DEPOT. Three weeks later the goods were delivered as was promised. Unfortunately the bed was faulty.

The shop assistant at THE SLEEP DEPOT store said she would e mail the distribution centre for a replacement. After I made more phone calls, I found that they did not have the bed in stock and I would have to wait an unspecified time for a replacement. Not good.

I contacted Consumer Direct and they told me I should expect a total refund because the order was not free from defect.

I obtained a small claims pack from court and then spoke to the woman at THE SLEEP DEPOT in person. I said I would spend the afternoon filling the form in if I did not have a refund. The woman spent quite along time on the phone before she was able to get authorisation for the refund.

    Rules:
1 If possible, avoid those companies who can’t deliver for weeks.
2 If their customer service will not answer the phone, then they are probably dodgy.
3 If they claim to have staff shortages as an excuse for not answering the phone or
cannot get refunds authorised because there is no manager….dodgy
4 If there is a torn jean clad young man sitting at the shop assistant’s desk saying
‘you won’t get a refund’ and ’he (the MD) doesn’t give refunds’, ignore him.

I would not use THE SLEEP DEPOT again after my experience.
  • Snap! We're in the throes of a very similar battle with Sleep Depot! We ordered a bed on 5th August which failed to arrive on its given date of 13th. When it did arrive on the 20th August, it came damaged (one wheel buckled, draw that wouldn't open and minus hook and eyes that keep the base together). We reported this straight away and were told that a replacement would be ordered. In the meantime, we had to put up with a broken bed costing £600+ with one end propped up by a Harry Potter book!

We daren't turn over as the thing moved and wobbled. This was particularly difficult for me as I am disabled and have a spinal injury. Several other delivery dates and false promises failed to produce a replacement base. Consumer Direct told us to put in writing that we were giving them 7 days from 1st September to deliver a replacement or we'd expect our money back. We had, after all, given them several chances already. We were again promised that the replacement would be delivered on 19th September (pm) and even received a phone call from the warehouse to confirm its delivery. The broken base we'd been using up until then, was collected. But, guess what?? Yet again, the base failed to be delivered. We're now sleeping on the mattress on the floor - all this for £600+ ! We've now been told we've got to wait another five days (!) but they've offered us the broken base back in the meantime - but we've declined! They are refusing to refund us, even though we've asked and put it in writing. A lady at Customer Services was hard, arrogant, unfeeling and extemely unhelpful - she wasn't interested. Furthermore, the store manager hung up on us when we phoned to enquire what he intended to do. My advice is NEVER EVER buy ANYTHING from this store - and if anyone you know is thinking of doing so, save them a lot of pain, heartache and misery by advising them NOT to.
