Bed Depot/Sleep Depot

  • Here's some more information about the Sleep Depot...

The Sleep Depot are selling a range of furniture, the "Aston" range which is marketed as 100% solid American Oak. I spent over £1000 on a Solid Oak wardrobe and other "Solid Oak" items for our bedroom recently. When it arrived, it looked like solid Oak but when I checked the end of the wood (i.e. the cross section) it turns out that a large proportion of it is NOT solid Oak. I complained in the shop and asked for a refund but they insist it is Solid Oak. Anyone can recognise solid wood from fibreboard can't they?

    For the wardrobe:
    - the central parts of the doors are made from Oak veneer, backed onto hardboard
    - the entire side panels are made from Oak veneer backed onto fibre board
    - the wardrobe roof is veneered fibreboard
    - the back and base is as also as above
    - In other words a large proportion of the total item.

See the range on their website:

    AVOID BUYING THIS FURNITURE

I am currently going through my local trading standards dept to get them prosecuted and my money back!

Hello, someone I know has had a problem with this shop re: delivery of a 'display' package that was different to what was actually displayed. What is the success rate of trying to resolve an issue with them?

    Thanks,

    Nick.

I'm planning on buying a new bed for my growing son and have seen one at the local Sleep Depot store and also on their website. The one I'm considering is the Maestro double size costing £179.95 in the half price sale at present, this also comes complete with mattress and linen and seems like a good deal but not sure whether to pursue it due to the previous "horror" stories I've read about them. Can anyone perhaps recommend some other company that will do great deals and a good service?:A

For anyone having 'bed issues' I wholly recommend http://www.bedsdirect.com/ - I ordered a double bed and Silentnight Onyx matress at 15.45 on a Friday and had the whole lot 10am the next day (not all stock is next day delivery but they have a fair range that is if you're desperate like we were!) Delivery is free, the service is fast and extremely polite, and I'd use them again no problems at all. Hope this helps anyone looking for a bed - they are really fantastic.

    Is what ok??

Be careful shopping at Costco, some things are cheaper, but some things aren't. Last time I went in there the mattresses were similar prices to high street stores, but far more expensive than on line.

They are an absolute nightmare! I ordered a bed and it took 7 months to get it delivered. The store posters advertise everything from speed delivery etc but it's anything but that. I was informed that they attempted a delivery that I didn't know about and because I was at work they gave my bed to another customer! After a long battle they included in side table workth £150.00 apparently and I got my bed at the end of June.....

You can complain to the headoffice if you feel they are not helpful enough at the store. Good luck
