Black cats are the hardest to rehome!

I love my black cats. They look elegant for starters and their coats always seem to shine more than other moggies whenever the sunlight catches them. But, most of all, their personalities are fabulous - they are just great big huggle monsters who are very in tune with my mood. Mine are lovely animals and are a real asset in my life.0

Torties really are insane ... I have 2 at the moment and they're either loving me to death or trying to take my hand off at the wrist. Very feisty - think one of them may be part-Siamese/Burmese/Tonkinese going by her build. They're probably my favourite colour because they're hard work psychologically. All the gingers I've had have either died young or roamed away, so I'd be wary of having gingers again. Haven't seen a pure tabby in years although we have 3 tabby and whites. Even I struggle sometimes to tell the 4 black ones apart by sight, but I can tell all 9 apart in the dark by the texture of their coats."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

My tortie was like that fuss on her terms only.
I have a little ginger and white girl Sophie she has thumbs and always looks worried but then after all she's been through in the first 3 years of life she only has 5-6 lives left lol
My little Abby (the baby) is pure tabby and is Lucy-furs daughter she is affectionate too and always has to sleep on my bed but won't come up until I turn the bedside light off (weird). She is very adventurous and is always getting herself into pickles then shouts for me to rescue her normally from the top of a door frame or curtain rail even the wardrobe rails.
Abby's sister Ziva she is tabby & white was very aloof to the point of being a bit of a scaredy cat she lets her sister do everything and will only join in if its safe. She just likes having you close.
Megan is the feisty one I've often said to OH if he finds me dead she did it. Things are her way or the highway unless your daddy (OH) then she is a big softy. Again fuss on her terms and she makes it know she thinks you should be honoured she is wasting her time with you.
I have a little trouble telling Hades & Lucy apart occasionally but mostly it's about the size Hades is huge compared to Loops. She is a little dink. Even her daughters are double her size think that's because she had them very very young. She wasn't with me then she was living in a drug den she came to me with her babies as a foster case but I just couldn't let them go as they were so special and really completed our house fullFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -
All the ginger ones I have had have died young or before their natural time too !! But charater wise they have been a bit like torties...(Only going by one tortie experience though to be fair).....I had one ginger that wud only eat coffee cake.........nothing else, just coffee cake. He hadn't been fed it,he stole it initially, and from then onwards that was it.
It is SO nice to know that its the tortie that is bonkers and not me:D,
To be honest she has been an absolute cow but I love her, when younger I think she shredded 7 sets of curtains and lots more. I wouldn't swap her for the worlld hard work or not.........I admire her independance and craziness........and wudnt have her any other way
But , nxt time I get a cat I will be having a black or black and white one ...and another tortie as well.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
Interesting thread - both by the title - just wouldn't have occured to me that they would be less liked than any other colour.
I had a tabby - in my teens till mid-twenties - had a 'stroke' at 14.
My second was a grey & white (she had a tortoiseshell mother) - I had in my late thirties till late fifties - CRF at 20. Still miss her and her ways, thogh she could be a 'spitfire' at times! But then I wouldn't want a 'Rag-doll'!
Whilst my Partner has had several black ones sometimes as many as three at a time.
Whether in the future we will have another who knows, curiously enough I quite like the 'look' of a Calico!
With black ones - how do you see them in the dark, and flea hunting at the back of the neck would I imagine difficult!?I used to work for Tesco - now retired - speciality Clubcard0 -
:eek::eek: 'like the look of a calico' !!
Good luck , don't ever be fooled by the look, they hve some kind of being that us as humans are yet to understand...........would have another tomorrow.:)Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... This is my Charlie boy, in his usual position on my sofa lol.
Got him as a rescue and love him to bits :-) Don't understand the whole black/black and white issue but maybe people think the colours are 'boring' and prefer the tabbies etc

This has made my mind up, my next cat is going to be black (and rescue obviously)0
