Neighbour constantly slamming cupboards.

Options
In march my neighbour had a party and got police visit about noise since then she has hammered and slammed doors, keeping us awake and frightening the life out of my young children and reduced us to tears many times. Have filled in 5 incident diarys for housing executive, she's had verbal and written warnings and been interviewed by executive, been warned by police to stop it too. We are waiting on sound monitor but since interview last week she does it randomly during the day just the odd slam here and there. Just wondering if anyone else has suffered with this and is he random slam that shws up on monitor enough to take her to court. Many thanks.

  • Are you sure it is on purpose or is it just a case of too thin walls and not enough care?

Have you spoken to her about the noise or just gone in with the police/HA?

Do you actually think she is doing it on purpose to annoy you? Maybe she is just heavy handed?

Does she know it was you who called the police / reports her? She may well be doing it to wind you up but I don't think it could be used against her unless she is doing it constantly for hours on end.

Our neighbours downstairs don't seem to be able to open or shut doors quietly - they are just a bit thick (from what we have been told) and probably don't realise how noisy it is - but its only now and again so we don't bother mentioning it.

Does the odd slam really matter? Maybe she is trying but has forgotten or wasn't thinking, maybe she didn't have a free hand ....

We told her and she told me to f off. Lived here 13 years beside each other and she never did it until she got reported for party. That's how we know it's intentional. She screams abuse at me when I'm out too even when I'm with my 5 year old.

She's poisoned my dog, fish, switched our pond off in our garden and had a guy outside threatening to put our windows threw.

That is terrible but not a reason to get petty over the occasional door slamming, minor complaints detract from the validity of the rest of your concerns. Pick your battles.

So the op's neighbour had one party, that was a bit loud and you reported her.
Now she is targeting you, or so you believe.
Wouldn't it have been better to live and let live, put up with the noise of a party, as they are a bit rowdy in general.
From what i can see this is just going to turn really nasty. In 13 years I assume there has never been anything like this..........until you reported her.

How come some doors slamming have you in tears........a drastic response

You don't say OP if it was you who reported her when she had the party.

Right ok, if she is doing this then the slamming may be to annoy you. However, I would ignore it - she is probably looking for a reaction from you. Clearly you have bigger problems with her than her slamming doors - like others have said, pick your battles.

Regarding the harassment and antisocial behaviour, keep records of what is said, when it happens, etc and keep the HA informed. Are you complaining via telephone or in a letter?
