    Hi all,
I just spent a small fortune on MAC foundation, concealer and blot powder. I went back once becuase the concealer the make-up girl used on me, I'm sure, was darker than the one I had when I got home! I struggled with the one I was given for a week but decided looking like an inverted raccoon wasn't cool, so I took it back. I saved up and got the blot powder but I can't use it. I put the foundation on with a brush (got a great one from Body Shop for £10 even though MAC wanted £25 for the same thing!) as well as the concealer with a smaller one. I finished this off with powder on my oily areas but started finding that it started flaking and peeling by 12:00. Trouble is, I bought all this about two months ago, so I can't really take it back, now. Any ideas on what's gone wrong? I've got lots of spots and old scars from old spots, dark circles under my eyes and I don't feel I can go without full foundation, although I'd love to. Just on weekends or to have the option of leaving the house without full slap would be nice! I'm only 31, for goodness' sake!

Either way, I'm not happy, so I'm going to go along to one of those foundation fittings at Boots. I think there are a couple of counters doing them until the end of April.
A problem is like a pebble. Hold it too close and it blocks out rest of the world. View it from a distance and you'll see it for what it really is. Small and insignificant.

I'm no make up expert by any means but I would think if the MAC girl put it on and it was good and worked and you liked it - then perhaps something is going pear shaped when you apply it at home?

I tried a foundation brush (I also bought the Body Shop one) but to be honest I just never got used to using it properly. I now just put the foundation on my hand, add a teeny moisturiser and rub it in by hand.

Also, I put the concealer on first..always have done. And when adding concealer make sure you are just tapping it on along where you can feel the bone and not higher - it will adjust itself anyway. I only wear limited powder and only if I am really oily.

If you live near the MAC shop perhaps go back in and ask what they think has happened? I Know they are always really helpful.

    Hi,
I used to be a Body Shop Consultant for a year. If you book a party and hold it you can get some free products they do make overs as well, so you will get instruction and free products depending on how much sales your party makes. The minimum is £15 and the maximum is £50 plus half price shopping. Try their website.

    Good Luck

    Hi,

I am a Body Shop at Home consultant, and would be happy to find someone who lives in your area to organise a party for you. As racer256 said, a Body Shop 'Make Me Fabulous' make up party would involve a quick, non scary(!) makover and advice on products. If you do host a party, you can get free things from the catalogue. Get the girls round and have a catch up whilst pampering yourselves! Much of our make up is very light and easy to wear, my mum who hates foundation and heavy make up was amazed by the foundation, which you don't even feel on your skin. Likewise for our eye and lip make up! You have nothing to lose! My advice would be to go for something like this as opposed to visiting a make up counter, which can seem very intimidating and pressurised. Whereas you don't have to buy anything at your Body Shop party, although I bet you would find it hard not to!
