Merseyside employers are enraging me!

Thats awful! I can see a lot of employers putting that straight in the bin.
Look at it again. The guy is a webdesigner. He's showing the employer what he can do straight away. It's the perfect tailored CV.
If you were looking for a member of staff, would you rather go through 250 of these
or something a bit more interesting?Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
ah missed that bit, fair enough. But not everyone is looking for a job thats so specific.notanewuser wrote: »Look at it again. The guy is a webdesigner. He's showing the employer what he can do straight away. It's the perfect tailored CV.
How do you suggest (other than coloured paper) someone wanting a pretty much entry level job makes their cv stand out?
Genuine question because although I'm 37 I haven't worked in 8 years (for a variety of very personal and valid reasons, been seriously job searching for the last 4+) I have had jobs in the past, as I've said I've been on various courses and am just about to complete my level 2 ITQ so have an up to date all round IT qualification.
I'll do anything that I can physically do (I have health problems which mean I can no longer work in retail as I can't stand for long periods of time)
There have been times when I have I have spent over an hour on an application form and have received rejection emails within seconds of submitting it.
What the hell are you supposed to do then?0 -
I have no idea as I am not a recruiter and never placed an advert on the net but I am sure someone could tell usnotanewuser wrote: »No darling, white envelope with CV folded neatly into 3, on ever-so-slightly-not-white paper. That's all.
Don't know how the web upload thing works. Is it open file format?0 -
I look at a lot of employers sites and have found many jobs that I have applied for that way and sent speculative cv's or registered for email alerts when jobs are posted.Running_On_Empty wrote: »You should also be focusing your job search on employers' websites not simply agencies and jobs' boards.
A lot of people don't want the bother of working out which employers are in their travel-to-work area and so miss out on a good source of vacancies.0 -

I don't think you lot get it. It can ONLY stand out if you have it in front of you. Not if you get an email saying so and so has applied click here to read their cv or it's sent as an attachment and they do not open it.
I think that by the way looks awful but just my opinion.0 -
Depends if you are applying for a web designer role or accountant!notanewuser wrote: »Look at it again. The guy is a webdesigner. He's showing the employer what he can do straight away. It's the perfect tailored CV.

there are a lot of places that won't accept hand delivered/posted cv's now and tell you that they only advertise jobs online and don't accept cv's at allMissSarah1972 wrote: »Please tell you are kidding? LOL
Yeah that's what I'l do I will get the addresses of all the jobs I apply for daily and spend £7 a day for the travel - good idea, not
A lot of the jobs I apply for specifically mention that they won't accept paper cv's and only accept online applications.0 -
yeah I know that and you can not get an appointment to even see the person you would send it to via online so a bit pointless if you just leave it with secuirty or in a shared office you have little chance.there are a lot of places that won't accept hand delivered/posted cv's now and tell you that they only advertise jobs online and don't accept cv's at all
