Merseyside employers are enraging me!

All you Merseyside employers who have not bothered to acknowledge my job applications - and all those of you who have knocked me back - what the hell is wrong with you all? I have over 25 years experience in admin and customer service, yet you won't even consider me for an interview.
I am fed up - I repeat, I am truly and utterly FED UP - with trying to get a job on miserable, depressing, jobless Merseyside.
If there were not so many people out of work, you would be glad of any recruit you could possibly get.
I am sick to death of being unemployed and going nowhere fast in this jobless hole.

Maybe there's too many applicants who are better suited for each job you're applying? I think better qualifications and several years experience plus putting on a better first impression is more desirable than 25 years work experience. Maybe it's a lottery and you just haven't hit the jackpot yet?0 -

Relocating or immigrating might be a solution.0

Thanks for your reply. Yes, you are right - there ARE too many applicants chasing job, especially here on Merseyside, which is the worst place in the UK for jobs.
What has exacerbated my dejection is that I recently applied for two Civil Service posts: one knocked me back after interview because I didn't get enough points on the competency interview (was only 2 points out, and the question was: "Describe a time when you've had to relay difficult or complicated information to a customer"), and the other rejected me on the basis of the behavioural competency questionnaire I had to complete online. I don't know if they have raised the pass benchmark for such jobs now, but one time I used to be pretty lucky getting back into the Civil Service. Now, it's nigh impossible.
I have often thought about leaving Merseyside, but the problem then arises of finding suitable accommodation in whichever area I decide to relocate too. Catch 22. I am sinking lower and lower every day. Beginning to think there is no hope - ever.Maybe there's too many applicants who are better suited for each job you're applying? You are so right. The jobs market STINKS now. Never known it to be so bad. I don't know how many jobs I have applied for over the past two years, but employers either snub you or don't reply at all.

Honestly, that's not much of a problem. You apply for jobs in another location and only when you get one you very quickly look for flatshares and the ilk until you have your own apartment/house sorted out (if that's what you're doing). I've done that several times in my life and never had an issue.“Don't do it! Stay away from your potential. You'll mess it up, it's potential, leave it. Anyway, it's like your bank balance - you always have a lot less than you think.”

Could be worse. You can be homeless, crippled, maimed beyond repair, and everyone goes OMG IT'S A FREAK OF NATURE when they walk past you. Seen the story about the cojoined twins? Abby and Brittany Hensel. Now that's a tough life.
Instead of brooding you should be happy your life is relatively safe and stable, and it's only a matter of time before you find a job.0 -
But it's not so easy to get accommodation, and I would not want to share.Welshwoofs wrote: »Honestly, that's not much of a problem. Thats very easy for you to say im sure...........do you have a job yourself?!
Trust me i live in the Merseyside area and my husband has been unemployed for nearly 2 years and he is destroyed by the fact he gets ignored for every job he applies for, so much so he feels like giving up. He is rock bottom with it all.
I get REALLY sick of hearing "oh it could be worse, you could be disabled, this, that and the other, BLAH BLAH BLAH".
You obviously talk through your backside and have no idea what years of job searching without success does to people!
Sorry but your comment has really got up my nose.:mad:0
