I don't know why you jump to such ill-founded conclusions! I appreciate your offer to have a look at my CV, but the thing is I have submitted it that many times to that people that, in the end, I have just become so fed up with it all. The CV is now tailored to the best it can possibly be, therefore obviating the need for any more revamps.

    But thanks anyway.

Then why are you not getting interviews? I would not be turning down help in your position.

Well, what conclusion should I have taken from you posting on other threads without answering me on one of your own?

Who have you "submitted" your cv to? Employers? Bit late by the time it gets to them. You have nothing to lose from taking me up on my offer, and possibly everything to gain. You do want to get a job, don't you?

If it helps I'll even send you a copy of mine.

  • Maybe the OPs not getting interviews because of the high number of unemployed people in relation to the low number of jobs.

But other people are getting interviews, and indeed jobs - so he needs to look at why he is not even getting that far. In such a competitive market you aim to stand out, not use others as an excuse.

Yes thats true but my old boss applied for a job and the first thing the agency asked him is 'are you working' and he said if I said 'no' what would you say and their reply was that they could not take him on their books as they wouldn't be able to help him. Lucky for him he still has his job where I used to work so they put him forward for a role.

You can not also stand out if your CV is not getting read. I chased up an admin job local to me paying £12k yesterday and they replied that since they had over 250 people apply they didn't have the time to read all CV's and have filled the job.

You see almost as bad as the OP in putting barriers in your way! If you take that sort of attitude you will get nowhere. Change your attitude to believing that you are the best person for the job, and before long you'll get there.

It is not a barrier it's a fact about agencies. I have it in writing from Page that they do not deal with people who have been out of work for more than 6 mths. So after 6 mths you are dropped if you are still on their books.
I am a VERY good candidate with many years experience but I can not make someone interview me. I'd like someone tell me how I can get interviews.

Put yourself out there - find that fine line between persistence and being annoying and be persistent. Make contacts, send polite follow up emails/ phone calls before the decision is made - show them how willing you are. Once you have sent your cv, your next task is to make sure they read it.

More than happy to look at your cv if you want me to.

Another little tip is to print your cv on a coloured paper - not a bright one, just something that will make yours instantly stand out. Yellow is good, as is pale green or blue. ;)

I'm self employed, but mine is on a fairly bright blue background, so even if I have to e- mail it, it stands out.

I sent 54 follow up emails yesterday saying I was very interested in the role/s and that with some that said you have to have industry specific exp I said all my skills were transferable and I would be very greatful if they could seriosuly consider me etc and or give feedback on my CV.

I can not make them read the CV/application and or the follow up and of course today I have had no reply apart from one who said there was so many people applied for the £12k job they never read them all.
